8. Casey   |   casey is our snake boi as we like to call him. he has his human form but he identifies as a snake-humanoid thing... honestly i’ve never asked him in depth about that. he prefers being inside but when he comes out he’s suave as hell. people seem to like him more than they like most of us. he’s one of the few in the system whose origin we actually know of. he has his own blog though he honestly doesn’t use it that much. - alec & Aesh (Image source here.)

9. Celyn   |   he’s one anxious mf but he’s also outstandingly good at social situations. like better than i could ever imagine. he’s sweet but he’s a fighter. i wouldn’t call him most likely to throw the first punch out of us all, but he’s resilient for sure. he has his own blog that he’s just starting to use again. it took them forever but for a long while now he and our system mate tyler have been together. - emery & alec (Image source here.)

10. Eden   |   as far as aesh and i know eden’s the only system member we have that split directly from another system member...? bailey was driving a car and witnessed a car accident that she nearly got into one day and eden came about to help with driving responsibilities while bailey was out of commission. his full name’s “charles eden morgan” and if any of you play video games you can probably imagine what fictional universe he came from. he’s still sort of developing as far as personality goes but he likes singing and driving, and he has an affinity for cowboy aesthetics. he’s made us listen to old town road so many times. - alec & Aesh (Image source here.)

Dakota   |   we’ve had some problems with dakota in the past because he tends to get overwhelmed and just sorta spiral out of control, but he’s a good guy, really he is. we call him ‘daddy’ or ‘papa’ dakota pretty often because he tends to fill a father figure role with a lot of our system members. in fact we named his personal tumblr account ‘daddy garcia’ and i’m pretty sure he hasn’t changed it yet lmao. - alec & Aesh (Image source here.)

Reaux   |   xir full name is despereaux, and xe’s a fae. xe has an animal form which is a mouse, this being because xe’s actually a fictive from the book the tale of despereaux. because xe’s a fae xe doesn’t subscribe to gender in any way. xe’s definitely unique. xe’s probably the most optimistic and bubbly person we’ve got in our system. absolute sweetie, we rate xem 5 out of 5 stars, follow xir blog for social justice and memes. - alec & Aesh (Image source here.)

Gwaine   |   i guess this has become the fictives introduction post! this is gwaine, he’s our lovely knight (though usually in sweatpants, not shining armor). he came from the bbc show merlin though he’s not exactly like the guy from the show. he looks like him, but our qwaine is more like an au version where he’s a wild pansexual living in the modern era. a lot of the system’s sorta embarrassed by how obvious it is that he’s a fictive but i’m proud to have him. guess i (alec) am a little biased on the topic seeing as i myself am a fictive too. gwaine has his own blog here that he just got though he’s rarely out. - alec (& Aesh) (Image source here.)

I'm bipolar and I feel my mood changes and fluctuating energies are different subselves. I could be singlet or median. Would that make sense if it's not essentially possessions?

Not all switches are possession switches. Monoconscious systems usually report more of a feeling of becoming the other headmates rather than someone else taking over.

One thing that I would suggest looking for would be an emotional disconnect to memories when in one state. Generally, a singlet may behave differently in different contexts and may even feel like somewhat of a different person in these other contexts, but all memories would be identified as their own.

Headmates and people in general, at their core, are memories. In a system, headmates will generally relate to certain memories as theirs while relating to other memories as someone else's. In state A, you will primarily relate to memories of State A as being your own, while memories in state B feel like they belong to someone else, and vice versa.

While I'm not an expert in median systems, I think this type of disconnect in memories is probably still common there too.

As an experiment, you may want to try to journal about past memories in different states, and see how you relate to those memories.

And what does that disclaimer even mean? Definitions are how words are defined. You don't need research to prove how you define a word beyond just observing people using that word with that definition. 🙄
