Dahlia ‘Twyning’s After Eight’ (sin) today’s #oneadayplant . Mark Twyning who grows and breeds plants at one of the @plantheritage National Dahlia Collection in Cornwall @nationaldahlia raised this beauty that is ever popular with Garden Designers in particular. . Dark foliage and a pure white, single flower. A lovely thing. . Generally speaking, I only really like the single flowered forms. The big blousy cactus and formal doubles do nothing for me. This is a good plant, but like all Dahlia, needs some winter protection, so best either grown in a pot (which could be sunken into the ground), or lifted and dried each year stored in a cool dark shed over winter. An inconvenience. They do come through most U.K. winters in terms of cold, but wet normally gets them. You could risk it and replace if necessary. Your risk. . #dahlia #dahliatwyningsaftereight #nationalcollection #plantheritage #tenderperennial #tuber #garden #iplantsman #plants #blackleaves #white #flowers #foliage #gardeningadvice #gardeningtips #plantingdesign #gardendesign (at Crowborough, East Sussex) https://www.instagram.com/p/CB7h8TTgOXb/?igshid=1h5enxr9dyx7q
