Take It Day by Day
DAY 6: I may not write every single day. but I will in fact write every single week! Today is Wednesday (which I am so thankful for!) On Wednesday’s I do not perform fasted cardio. It’s like a “mini mid-week rest” (well, sorta.) I call it “cardio day” because I do all of my cardio together as training in the mid of the day. It’s a cool little concept: I go Monday and Tuesday with fasted cardio, Wednesday non fasted, and then Thursday, Friday, Saturday fasted. Being able to break it up in that fashion allows me to push through significantly, especially when I am beyond exhausted! The body needs rest to grow. I always stress a given rest day (mine is Sunday) and plenty of sleep (at least 8 hours a night.) You have to visualize your body as components. Components that help build your master piece. To many people become over whelmed when they see it as a “whole.” That is when you lose sight during the process. Taking it step by step, second by second will allow you to stay strong throughout the process. Realize that those complex carbohydrates are fueling your body’s energy to sustain each workout. Realize that each ounce of protein is helping you build stage worthy muscle, realize all those green veggies are helping you lean out. All that sleep is revitalizing your body and repairing it to be stronger the very next day. If you visualize how your body works in parts: you will make no room for excuses, nor will you feel overwhelmed with how much work needs to be done. Cater to each moment and before you know it, it will be time for stage and you will have yourself a finished product. That is when you can look at your work as a whole. Until then stay focused!
Don’t be so hard on yourself!
DAY 1: (Of my blog, not my prep! I have already been prepping for a few weeks now. But just decided to blog about it at 12 weeks out.) Today I was just not having it. Simply put, I wanted to run home and say F this work out man! But I didn’t do that LOL! (And thank goodness I didn’t) Here’s what set my emotions rolling... My headphones died, Pandora was being moody and I was just extremely low on energy... Any how 1 hour and 30 mins later I finished my workout mad at myself. Walking to the locker room yelling at myself inside my own head like: “yeah, that was probably the worst workout of my entire life! I don’t think you’ve ever done so bad ASHLEY! Good job for sucking today!” Well a tad bit later a woman in the locker room said to me “WOW, you look great! My legs hurt just watching you lift” I defiantly needed to hear that because just moments before I was telling myself “You should of just went home, your body looks like shit any ways....” (its quite funny how we beat our own selves up!) After I smiled and thanked her, I walked out of the gym in pure shock to realize.. I had smashed leg day! I couldn’t friggan walk straight!! My day literally did a 180 and quick! My point here is this: Regardless of how your day is going, regardless of any emotions you are feeling towards yourself and your workout...DO IT ANYWAYS! You never will know the outcome unless you do it. Like they say a bad workout is better than no workout.So keep pushing even if your in the “I hate myself and just want to go home and cry” mood.
