Flash forwards to the future, Ma died a quiet death and left the farm to Kon. He and Tim have live there together for about a year.
It was quiet on the farm. A little too quiet. I could never get used to this, but it’s not too bad. We’ve been here about a year, at least it’s been a year since the funeral.
Ma passed quietly from a cancer she never told anybody about and left the farm to Kon. We’d been together for a while and he said I didn’t need to come with him.
I didn’t quite believe him.
We moved out to Smallville and settled down on Ma’s farm after the funeral. Bart helped us move in, they made it very quick. Jon and Clark stopped by every now and again. It’s nice. But the quiet. Some nights it gets to me. I know Kon hears me get up and leave the bed. But sometimes it helps.
I take a walk through the farm, remembering everything from the past year. About a month after we got here, Kon got a brilliant idea to buy some horses.
“Tim. It’ll be great. We have the money. You’re loaded!” I signed and pinched my nose. I retired from my positions, but kept some investments so we had a back up income in case something failed on the farm. I’ve also been working part time as a science and business teacher at the local high school, but apparently my care for finances is going above my boyfriend’s head.
“Fine. One horse. Can you even ride a horse Kon?” He just smiled at me.
Two weeks later, two horses appeared at the barn. A mare and a stallion. One was black like our former costumes, and the other was a yellow color, soft like the sun. Kon smiled at me
“I said One. One horse.”
“Say hello to Bruce and Martha! I was just getting Bruce because he reminded me soo much of somebody we both know when Martha wandered up…” his voice trailed and I looked at the mare and understood. She reminded me of Ma too.
“Oh alright. We’ll keep both.” He smiled and I felt the familiar grasp of Kon’s TTK around my waist. “What are you doing?” I inquired.
He placed me onto Bruce, the Stallion, and followed suit. “Oh, I just figured I would ride us off into the sunset before I proposed.”
“Hm?” I turned my head and the horse took off.
“So, Timothy Drake, would you like to marry this old farm hand?” he asked as we rode bareback across the farm.
“I’d love to. You realize it’s not sunset, of course?” I replied
“Well, I’m impatient.”
I was standing in the kitchen, staring at the barn, when I felt two large, gentle arms come around my waist. I leaned into them and sighed, looking at the clock on the old microwave. It was about 3am. Kon placed a gentle kiss on my head before guiding me back to bed.
