People keep saying “stay home if you’re scared” but they’ve created a culture that doesn’t allow that. By reopening early, non-essential workers are forced to make difficult choices. Work in unsafe conditions, or choose financial ruin.

The items we are selling are not necessities, yet, we are risking our health so people can purchase them.

This is beyond selfish. We are the most grossly underpaid, under appreciated workers in this country. Now, we have to also self-police customers refusing to abide by basic safety practices on top of enduring the anxieties of simply coming to work.

If you quit your job because they won’t let you stay home because you feel unsafe and aren’t safe you can’t get unemployment.

Strike, and they fire you.

Speak up, they fire you.

This country has the means to freeze the economy and pay everyone to safely stay home. Instead, they’re giving billions to corporate entities.

I didn’t sign up for this. I’m not an essential worker. I’m being forced back to work by a generation that doesn’t understand that being inconvenienced is not oppression. Yet, I have to make an income. They’ve given me no choices. I’m literally disposable.

In this pandemic I refuse to have my growth stunted and my world put on hold. Not everyone is in the situation of potentially loosing a business that they put everything they have into.
