UPCYCL3D | This is a hat with a story. The Upcycled Rad Dad Hat, is fully upcycled + recycled. ORGAN/C | I cannot tell you how stoked I am to finally have GOTS certified, organic cotton, made in North America toques in hand. You will not find these toques anywhere because they were custom made for NOVEL 🙌 The process was lengthy and figuring out how to make it the MOST sustainable down to the Canadian-made natural tag and Tencel thread was a challenge. There were countless texts and calls with my supplier but we finally did it 💪. The dyes are the one thing that aren’t natural because to naturally dye 130 beanies is a major feat and really not financially feasible at this point. They are, however, dyed with reactive dyes (less harmful on the 🌎) in the US. Having apparel dyed in Canada 🇨🇦 or the US 🇺🇸 is better than having it dyed overseas because our regulations are much more stringent than in other countries. It ensures that all the waste water isn’t just dumped into our waterways without being filtered first. It isn’t perfect but it’s as close to perfect as I can get at this moment in time. I wanted to be completely transparent with this process so you know the amount of research, dedication and time that went into making this product and that it isn’t just another plastic toque. The first colour to be launched will be Mustard Yellow. The Organic Toque will retail for $35. OC3AN | A few days ago, we supported a Shoreline Cleanup hosted by Matthew Pattinson, an avid sailor, scuba diver and lover of all things marine life. Unfortunately, I was away in the UK but I donated a crew and some water bottles and connected Matt to everyone I knew that may want to attend the event. They cleaned up the Shoreline near #DavidLamPark and hosted a conversation about #microplastic pollution from apparel after the cleanup. Matthew believes that as purveyors of the outdoors and natural playground, we have a calling to be caretakers and I couldn’t agree more.
