Michael “Mikey” Wickersham

field of study: astrophysics
Carter met Mikey on her first day at uni, and the two immediately hit it off. He’s her best friend and confidant, and he’s like a brother to her. And since they both share a similar field of study, they’re always in the same classes as each other, minus a few different ones, either due to the different subdisciplines of study or for the extracurricular classes. He was the one that encouraged her to take the time to explore her relationship with her own sexuality and gender, and she quickly became far more confident than she had been in years in both regards to her identity, and her being more comfortable in her own skin overall
the two are constantly in touch with one another, often texting each other or meeting up outside of uni to have lunch or hang out at a cafe, and are often teased for practically being attached at the hip. Carter even brought him along as her “date” to the party her father threw shortly after he and the other Avengers retrieved the scepter from Sokovia. Though, with that they have been confused as a romantic couple on multiple occasions and, while they had found it funny at first, they quickly grew exasperated with the assumption. Both are quick to deny it or shut down the topic entirely, but it hasn’t deterred either of them from hanging out as much as they do

after Mikey, Ryan’s the next person Carter’s in frequent contact with. She often confers with him in regards to her thesis, with them both sharing the field of botany, though the two have been known to get into lengthy arguments in the group chat over the old debate of Stark Trek vs Star Wars (despite them liking both franchises), and which Pokemon is the best Pokemon; which has led the rest of their friends to create a second group chat without them. However, they do get along quite well, and they actually work together at the L&L Diner, though their shifts don’t usually overlap

They’ve filled in the role of being the parental friend of the group, and often volunteer to be the driver when the six of them are able to hang out - mainly because they’re the only one with a big enough car, and usually because them hanging out just means going off campus for lunch
Carter and Cody often bounce different book and music recommendations off of each other, and are always sharing anything new they’ve discovered. They both share a passion for music, which is actually how they met to begin with, since they’re both in the uni’s music club, and they’ll meet up from time to time to practice. They also constantly send each other dumb memes just for the hell of it, and have quite a few inside jokes relating to them

Carter and Reyna actually have very little interests in common, but the two get along pretty well nonetheless. Frankly, the only reason they’re friends to begin with is because of Cody - both were mutual friends with them, and met each other that way. But, they still meet up from time to time off of campus to chat, and occasional text each other outside of the group chat

Admittedly, no one’s truly sure how these two are friends. Carter and Theo tend to butt heads frequently, and seem to be squabbling more often than not. Both have been known to joke that their Cain instinct kicked in the moment they met, but they truly do get along despite what it appears. They have numerous interests in common, though minus their fields of study, and they often send dumb texts to each other whenever they’re bored

Carter and Ryan always work Christmas morning together, from 2am to 9am. It’s nonnegotiable, as they always find a way to end up working if they aren’t originally scheduled by trading shifts with other coworkers, and it’s been enough of a tradition that the owner doesn’t even bother thinking twice about scheduling them for that day. It’s an excuse for them to hang out together and have fun at work, and an excuse for them to carpool, as Carter always swings by Ryan’s place to pick him up, and then goes back to his place to hang out.
And, every Christmas, after Carter and Ryan return to his place, their other friends show up not long after as well - usually all meeting there by around 10am. They blast Christmas music as loud as possible without actually bothering the neighbors, since Ryan lives in an actual house outside of the city and not in an apartment, exchange gifts (ranging from thoughtful to outright ridiculous, such as Theo gifting Carter Twilight despite her actively hating the series), eating whatever foods Ryan and Carter were given from work, and baking as many cookies as humanly possible. At least, everyone but Carter bakes, as she’s long since been banned from being involved as she always manages to do something wrong, but she’s rather content with watching and occasionally acting like a judge with Theo and driving everyone else crazy. They usually end up staying for a few hours before leaving to celebrate with other friends and/or family if they haven’t already, and always leave with whatever it was they baked.
