Mermen (Mythology) are creatures more ferocious and hideous than mermaids. They have little interest in mortals. They do not come ashore to seduce women or men (they are not at all friendly). Rather, they are cruel, capable of killing their offspring if necessary. Most likely, mermen are the personification of the stormy sea; they are capable of raising storms and sinking ships, especially if mortals injure a mermaid.
