I thought it would be fun to do a swap of Season 1’s OFMD poster with Blackbeard’s new crew. (And Ivan, both for balance and because I miss him!)
And here’s a version without makeup because I spent all that time drawing eight different faces just to cover seven of them in black grease paint.
A little appreciation post for all of these non-male characters in OFMD. They are absolutely badass and it's one of the best aspects of the whole show.
We have problematic lesbians! Murder plotting widows! A nonbinary assassin! A killer nun! Pirate queens!
Zheng, Auntie, Jackie, Jim, Mary, and Archie are all featured significantly. But this extends to Nana, Evelyn, Hellkat Maggie, Mary Read and Anne Bonny too. Every single one of them has, in some way, rejected their social/patriarchal expectations and they have all flourished because of it.
Even the characters we only see for one episode manage to be presented in a way that is pretty much entirely complete. We understand exactly who they are, even when we don't know every aspect of their lives.
Stunning, honestly.
Do you think they do each other’s makeup before battle?
Unexpected Resurrection
This took me an ungodly amount of time to complete, but here it is at last! There will be no explanation of Izzy’s resurrection — neither from the man himself, nor me. :3
Happy holidays to @frooogscream.bsky.social !!
I thought it would be nice to draw them making costumes and I hope you like it 👉👈
'archie is completely unnecessary' 'archie just showed up out of nowhere' sorry you hate fun and whimsy. sorry you hate when women are strange and offputting. sorry you hate polyamorous butch himbos. sorry your life is devoid of joy
