soooooo remember how i was back here at the start of the year posting about 7 kittens i was now raising and how much i adored them?
if you remember that, then you might have also noticed the part where i started sharing photos of them, tried to come back to this glorious hellsite where my friends all used to be...and then disappeared again.
i'm not good at making long stories anything shorter than long, but i'll try in this case cuz i need to make midnight grilled cheese and then get some much needed rest.
all other life developments aside, pretty fai morgan who brought her 7 kittens to me got spayed earlier this year, and is very well and happy. but right before spay day, she brought 4 little boys in as one final surprise. they got fixed along with her and are growing up nicely, but definitely added some chaos for a while, and interrupted my return to being here.
now two of the 7 she brought me last year are girls that took a long time to trust me, so they're finally about to get spayed as well, next week. but while we had to wait for that appointment (booked months in advance), weeks ago my house got not one more surprise, but two!
or 10, to get all mathematical about it. because within the same week, one of those girls brought 5 young kittens to my house that she needed help feeding and protecting from the summer heat. and then her sister brought in another 5.
idris seems to have only had one kitten herself, ebba the munchkin, but she helped raise 4 more, including 2 that look exactly like her sister rhee, who we got spayed months ago without knowing she had any surviving kittens at all.
so while spay day for the sisters is next week, and any of the young ones that can also get fixed at that time will be, i've just been desperately trying to keep up with all 10 of them while still taking care of the others we raised.
and when it comes to the basics of caring for so many, in an area where nobody is eager to adopt new cats, trying to stretch my resources has been tough, even with my family's help when they can.
we're working on the legalities of becoming a nonprofit cat sanctuary, but i also started a gofundme back in january when it was still the 7 i was looking after, and then i was so busy with the cats i never actually shared it anywhere!!
so i know things are hard for a lot of people right now, in all the ways, and most of you probably don't have extra money to spare. but if you can afford to help some really adorable kittens, while we try to figure out how many we can afford to keep, please go check out the gofundme. and please share it everywhere you can.
we'd love to keep them all, especially since rhee never got to raise her babies and these will be the last kittens we raise from fai's family. but my fixed income just can't make that happen, so we're going to be making hard choices really soon about who we can keep in the family.
i can't promise lots of updates immediately because i'm barely managing to breathe right now. but i do have tons of photos and videos of all 10 and they have names and i love them and i'll miss every one we can't raise and worry about their chances of getting adopted because i can't know what will happen if they're no longer with us...and i will post more about them soon, when i can.
because preparing to give them up makes me want to cry, but they all deserve a proper introduction here. ebba lou, min and demi, freddie and nova, mattie and baz, and cal and evan and tate are beautiful, playful, sweet fluffballs of joy and i'm very grateful i got to help keep them safe and healthy, for however long it lasts.
Me, sometimes: I’m an Adult (tm), theoretically, maybe someday I should get myself some really good sheets. My cat: *gets the claws he won’t let me trim trapped in the pillowcase adding yet another small hole* Me: Ah yes right, the cheap stuff it is.
Did my feline children drink the bowl of moon water beneath Artemis's altar that I was saving for khernips? 🤦♀️😂
