“Hello,” San greeted and the members greeted back. The house was soon engulfed in silence.

“This is very awkward,” Jinki commented.

“If I was told the other ahjussi’s would be here then I wouldn’t be this awkward, but no! Everything needs to be a secret!” Eve exclaimed, causing Taemin to laugh.

“How about we start eating?” Kibum suggested. Everyone else agreed and started picking at their plates. Kibum started reaching to cut the steak on Eve’s plate for her when she turned to look at San.

“Can you cut my steak for me?” she asked him sweetly.

All movement at the table stopped. Jinki froze with his fork halfway to his mouth. Minho’s hand was stuck in the air from when he was taking a sip of his wine. Taemin had his hand over his mouth in shock. Key squinted his eyes at his sister. San’s jaw dropped as his eyes flitted between everybody at the table.

San quickly got over his shock and leaned in to whisper in Eve’s ear, “Um, is– isn’t your brother supposed to do that?”

Eve merely shrugged as everyone watched with bated breath. “He’d argue that he didn't sign a contract so…”

San blinked. Twice. “Are you sure?”

Eve nodded with a smile. “Yes.”

San gulped. He slowly reached towards Eve’s plate as everyone watched him. He was about to hold the plate when he stopped. “No, this isn’t right! Your brother is supposed to do this, Biyah,” he whined, much to Eve’s amusement.

She pursed her lips to conceal her smile as Kibum covered his mouth with his hand. Taemin looked to the side so San couldn’t see his face. Minho coughed to cover his laughter. Jinki put his food in his mouth to keep himself busy.

“I mean,” he continued, seemingly unaware of everyone's reactions, “even if he invited his members without asking you, he should still cut your steak. You told me that if you’re eating steak with him, then he has to cut it for you. So, I’m not going to!” He finished passionately.

Eve burst out laughing uncontrollably, leaning back against the chair for support and the other four men followed her. San watched them with questioning eyes, confused at why they were laughing.

“Well done, Sannie,” Eve said after calming down. She reached over and tapped his nose, his eyes closing shut at the contact. “You passed.”

San looked from her to Kibum – who had also calmed down – and back at her. “I passed?”

She nodded. “Yep. Kibum oppa said that in order to get his stamp of approval, you need to respect that he’s the most important man in my life – his words not mine – and this was the only way to test that. Therefore, you passed.”

“Oh,” San said, still surprised. He slowly moved to face forward again. “Okay.”

“You see, San,” Kibum started after taking a sip of his wine. “Nabi is my baby sister, and I wouldn’t want her to date some asshole that thinks he’s more important than me. Obviously we are important to her in different ways, but at the end of the day, I’m her brother. And if her boyfriend had no problem disrespecting me, then he'd have no problem disrespecting our parents. And that’s something I can’t allow.”

San nodded in understanding as he listened to Kibum. “I would never try to disrespect you, sunbaenim. Or your parents. Or the rest of your family,” he vowed. “Nabi wouldn’t even let me. I know how important you are to her and I wouldn’t want to cause any problems with her relationship with her family.”

“That’s good,” Minho said as he cut up his steak. “I liked you from the moment she told us she was dating you,” he added matter-of-factly.

As San proceeded to talk with Minho, Jinki and Taemin, Eve turned to look at Kibum with a smile on her face. He reached over to squeeze his hand before cutting her steak up for her. She sent him a finger heart when he was done and ate a piece.

“As much as we tease Nabi,” she heard Jinki say as she started listening to the conversation, “we would bury a body for her,” he finished, crossing his arms.

“Even if that body is her first boyfriend,” Taemin added, half-jokingly, causing San to gulp. Eve kicked her leg out under the table and Minho let out a yelp.

“Ow!”

“Oops. That was for the oppa on your left,” she said, gesturing at Taemin. Minho punched Taemin in the arm, who immediately gasped in pain.

“Okay, I’ll dial it back,” he said, raising his arms in mock surrender.

“Goes to the military and immediately starts threatening people.” Eve scoffed.

The rest of the night went by in a blur. After finishing dinner, they all went to the sitting room and sat on the couch. Commes des and Garçon quickly warmed up to San and started fighting for his attention, causing Eve to pout because “Why aren’t they fighting for my attention?”. They played Monopoly and San beat all of them flawlessly, triggering Eve and Minho’s competitive spirits. To end the night, the SHINee members shared embarrassing stories of Eve.

“She just shaved it off,” Taemin said through his laughter. He was telling the story of the time Eve accidentally shaved off one of her eyebrows with Minho’s shaver.

Eve huffed and crossed her arms. “I thought it was a skin softener! I didn’t know why you used it all the time!”

San looked at her with pursed lips, trying not to laugh. She rolled her eyes at him and he burst out in laughter. “I’m sure you looked really cute,” he said.

“I think I have a picture of her,” Jinki spoke up, reaching for his phone. Eve scrambled to steal his phone and held it to her chest.

“Nobody can see these photos,” she said seriously.

San and her soon got ready to leave. She said goodbye to the boys, hugging them all before walking to the door as San bowed respectfully to them. Kibum walked them to the elevator.

“It was nice to officially meet you, San,” Kibum said, sticking his hands in his pocket as they waited for the elevator to arrive.

“You too, sunbaenim,” San sincerely responded.

“Thanks for not being annoying,” Eve thanked Kibum.

He rolled his eyes. “Thanks for only being mildly annoying.”

The elevator came and the two got in.

“Bye, oppa,” Eve said as she and San waved goodbye. Kibum waved goodbye to both of them as the doors shut.

When they got in the car, San let out a deep exhale and Eve chuckled as she fished her keys out of her pocket.

“How was it?” She asked, putting the key in the ignition and starting the car.

“Great!” He exclaimed. “They really love you,” he observed.

She shrugged as she pulled out the parking space and drove out the apartment complex, waving at the security guard. “Yeah, I’m their baby. They’re super protective of me. I’m basically Yeri but in JYP. And related to one of the members.” She rested her hand on the centre console and San soon linked his fingers with hers.

“I’m glad you have so many people that care about you,” he said.

Eve smiled. “Me too.”

“Did you know he was inviting his members?” He asked once they arrived at his dorm building. “Like, was that part of your plan?”

Eve shook her head. “I didn’t have a clue. The only plan we had was to get you to do something that he’s supposed to do. I merely saw my opportunity and took it.”

“Well, you guys really had me convinced,” San said as he got out of the car. He walked around to Eve’s side and she rolled down her window. “Goodnight, Biyah.”

Eve reached out and held San’s face in her hands, pulling his face to hers and placing a kiss on his lips. “Goodnignt, Sannie,” she said once she pulled away.

Missing the shinee universe guys. What kind of place do you think each couple would move into first? Who would wait until they were married or engaged first? Who would live in a condo, apartment, fixer upper home? -SLA

Ahhh, shinee universe! I had every intention of revisiting the shinee universe before I dedicated my whole life to the ever-expanding For You universe, so thank you for this question! feel free to send more!

Once Aimee and I sat down to talk about this, we pumped out our answers pretty quickly. A big chunk of the delay in answering was due to the fact that I re-read the shinee universe to get the answers canonically correct, so you should probably prepare for a novel, SLA! As always, pls feel free to tell me what you think! -Ash

It’s so weird to write these answers out of order, but I decided that it would be best to do this in the order in which the members get married!

Minho

It’s already established that Minho is total husband material, so it’s probably not shocking that he’s the first in this bunch to get married

Minho and his significant other don’t move in together until wedding plans are underway

They move into a house that isn’t technically in the city, but everything is still accessible on the frequent occasion that Minho wants to take his lady out on a date 

Minho encourages his fiancee to make all of the fun decisions about decorations for the wedding and for the house while he deals with what he considers “boring adult stuff”

Although he tries his best not to show it, Minho gets so stressed from all the planning that he decides within himself that he’s NEVER moving again

So he picks a house that has every feature anyone could ever need. He even thinks ahead to make room for any future children. 

All in all, Minho wants to settle into comfortable domestic happiness with the person he loves. Obviously, he’ll still be fun and competitive and exciting, but he doesn’t try to prove that by moving into a new, bigger, fancier house every other year or by making constant home improvements

Plus, he’s a little too busy helping Jinki to start his own projects

Jonghyun

Canonically, Jonghyun and his girlfriend live together in an apartment before they’re married

Although he is the second to get married, he wasn’t in any particular rush to propose until a few years into the relationship when his gf marries off the main characters in her newest best-selling novel

She had never written about a wedding before! Knowing that writing is where she explores her dreams, Jonghyun immediately goes into town to buy a ring after finishing the book. 

(He left in such a hurry, in fact, that he left the book on the park bench. His heart dropped until he found it still sitting where he left it, guarded by a kind old lady who was feeding the birds)

He’s a pretty creative guy himself, so he doesn’t exactly copy the proposal from the novel or from any movies or dramas. 

Very little changes in their daily lives after marriage since they were practically living as a married couple soon after their first hello. 

The wedding rings aren’t the first matching rings Jonghyun and his girl wear to express their love, but there is something special about them that even Jonghyun can’t express in any song-- something that his wife can’t describe in any book

Onew

Jinki is shook because his girlfriend brings up marriage first

His response id delayed not because he’s afraid of commitment but because, “Wow, I didn’t think I’d ever get this far in dating!”

Then, he laughs as he reminds her about their catastrophic iconic first date, and she laughs too, and somehow it’s decided that this is an adequate proposal. 

Jinki still buys her an engagement ring because “She deserves it!” It’s probably blue and beautiful. 

On one of his days off, Jinki gets lost in one of those home renovation marathons on tv, and decides, “I can do that!”

He realizes very quickly that he cannot do that, but he’s already bought a new house that’s in desperate need of renovations so he can’t turn back

Minho and Taemin are the only people who respond to his SOS texts. Place your bets on who steps up to build that house from the ground up!

Onew and Taemin aren’t entirely useless. Onew helps with some heavy lifting, and Taemin. . . well, he makes good playlists, and his awestruck stares fuel Minho’s superhuman strength

Onew has a distorted sense of his contribution to the construction of his house. He brags to everyone, “I built my home with my own to hands!” 

And he also constantly tackles home improvement goals that would never be accomplished without Minho’s help. 

Taemin

While Taemin is one of those “live in the moment” people, he’s also one who believes in destiny. It was never a matter of if he would get married to his girlfriend; it was a matter of when. 

Never truly afraid or embarrassed, Taemin told her outright very early in their relationship, “I’ll marry you one day-- when we’re al grown up!” He meant it, and she knew it. Neither of them is rushing to grow up, though. 

In the meantime, they enjoy each other’s company. They don’t technically live together, but she stays at Taemin’s apartment most of the time because his balcony provides the best sight of the moon and stars she has ever seen

Their favorite pastime is pestering his group members. 

Because Minho is her brother, he is the first target. Uninvited, they invaded his kitchen one morning, knowing well that neither of them knew how to cook to save their lives. Minho would have scolded them then and there when he barrelled down the stairs in his pajamas, expecting to find a burglar, had his wife not smiled so fondly at their effort to play house

Next came Jonghyun, but he wasn’t a satisfying target for any pranky because he always welcomes Taemin and his girlfriend with open arms. He even invites them to spend the night on the pull out sofa in the living room. His hospitality sends them onto the next victim. 

If anything, though, they are Jinki’s victim. When he isn’t insisting on giving them a tour of the house he built with his own two hands-- the house Taemin watched Minho build-- or forcing them to watch home renovation marathons, Jinki asks them with a broad smile, “So, when are you two gonna get married and make me a grandpa?”

Key is the only satisfying target. Taemin and his girl were able to spend an entire weekend in Key’s attic undetected!

“What’s making that noise up there?” Key’s girlfriend asked on the literal day that she moved in.

Key joked, “It’s the demon!”

Determined to prove Key wrong (or right by terrorizing everyone), Taemin stomped on the floor and screamed, “I’m not a demon!”

Suffice it to say that Taemin is lucky to see his wedding day after the beating scolding he received from Key

Key

Key doesn’t really plan to get married. He’s not opposed or anything, but he would only do it after a series of serious conversations with his significant other

He’s not one to judge, but he feels like most people rush in their relationships, and he’s not really about that life. Lowkey thinks Jonghyun is a maniac for moving in with his gf just a month into dating but anyway

His house isn’t a mansion or anything, but it’s obviously too big for just one or two people. He likes to live lavishly. His bathroom is practically a personal spa. 

The first time she visits, his girlfriend thinks he’s kinda weird for living in such a big place without a roommate, but she hides that behind compliments about the interior design or something. 

Key is the least likely to fantasize about living with his significant other. Like, no offense, but his house is his sanctuary. He likes having his own space. Also, he’s kinda particular about his living habits(and he doesn’t really want to share any of his closet space). 

Key only invites his girlfriend to live with him after they’ve been together long enough for him to decide that they can live together in harmony

This is somewhat unrelated, but I imagine that Key hired a housekeeper for a while, but he’s that kind of person who always went through the rooms to reorganize/clean things to his own (admittedly high) standard. So one day he wakes up like “What am I paying this person for?”

Key likes to complain and get under his gf’s skin, so she’s probably not counting the days until she gets to move in either tbh

They definitely 100% bicker the most out of all the couples, but that’s just how they communicate. They make up for their many petty arguments through the week with frequent ‘self-care’ nights wherein they watch dramas while wearing mud masks and sipping wine.

You could tell he was anxious by the way he kept readjusting his tie, the knot eventually coming undone, much like his resolve had. Silently going over to his side, you reached to fix the accessory. “Jinki, relax.”

“I’m completely!” he blurted out and then sighed. “Relaxed, I mean. Completely.”

Shooting him an unconvinced smile, you tidied up the knot you made and smoothed the tie against his shirt. Jinki nodded weakly at you and then dropped his head to your shoulder. “What if I do that in front of them?! I don’t want to mix my words up like that! God, if I’m clumsy-”

“They’re going to love you, don’t worry!” you encouraged, patting his back. “Besides, they can’t judge you on being clumsy, look at how we met.”

You heard the little breath he expelled and knew he was smiling at the memory. “You really did fall right at my feet, didn’t you?”

“Had you been just a step closer, I would have fallen onto you instead,” you grumbled and Jinki laughed, lifting his head up to smile at you.

It was that warm gesture, as he had held out his hand to help you up, that had you not only swooning immediately but stumbling into him once more when you were back up on your feet.

You had never seen a smile as radiant as his.

“Do that,” you breathed giddily and Jinki frowned. “Smile, just like that.”

“Why?”

“I mean at my parents!” you explained, still grinning yourself. “My mother will fall in love with you right away.”

“Ah, really?” Jinki’s lips curled up further. “Will your father too?”

Slapping his shoulder playfully as he laughed, you shook your head. “Actually don’t! Maybe they’ll fall in love with you so much that I’ll pale in comparison.”

“Y/N, the whole point in me meeting your parents tonight is to hopefully impress them enough as your boyfriend. It’s important I get this right. You only get one first impression.”

“What was yours of me?” you wondered and Jinki jutted his jaw out as he feigned needing to think about it. You laughed. “Hey!”

“Do you want the honest version or the playful one?” he offered and you cocked your head to the side. “Playful it is!”

“Jinki, come on.”

“Fine,” he said, his humour easing from his eyes. It was replaced by adoration and you gripped onto his belt, just in case your legs weakened from the way he was staring at you. “I felt as if fate had dropped you in front of me. When you looked up at me, time stopped. I didn’t know whether you could hear how loud my heart was thumping but my first thought was wow, she’s it for me.”

“I love you,” you breathed, slipping your arms around him and snuggling into his chest. “You have nothing to worry about. Just one look in my direction and my parents will know how I feel.”

“Which is?”

You smiled up at him. “Incredibly excited for a very long life at your side.”

“Oh, you think so?” Jinki murmured and you nodded, sizing up his lips. You kissed one another briefly before Jinki nodded determinedly. “Well then, what are we waiting for?”

SHINee reaction to you being nervous for a minor surgery.

Onew: Onew would hate to see you nervous, or in the hospital, but he would choose to be calm, hoping it would help you remain calm. He would assure you that it was just a minor surgery, and that he would be there for you when you got out. He would listen to all the Doctor’s instructions, and hold your hand the whole time, making sure you knew he wasn’t worried. When the doctor left, and it was just you two in the room, he would give you a huge smile, and talk to you about the latest ridiculous thing the other boys had done, keeping you from thinking about it too much, and reasserting the fact that it wasn’t anything too out of the ordinary. When the surgery was actually over, and you were brought back into the room, he would be waiting with the biggest smile he could muster. 

“There you are. I’m so proud, see, you got through it just fine. Now we can get you home, and I can be your servant.” He laughed. 

Jonghyun: Jonghyun would be a little more worried than he would like you to know. It’s only because he loves you, and he can feel how nervous you are, and he tends to feed on your emotions. But, he would put on a smile, and try to ignore his own nerves, putting his trust in the doctor, and focusing on making sure you knew he was there for you and you weren’t alone. He would resort to the things he would do when you were having a normal bad day, and make himself a next on the chair next to your bed, refusing to leave as long as you had to stay. He’d sing to you to help you relax, and bring your favorite movies, and do everything he could to keep you calm. 

“Well, we can just have a sleepover. I’ll camp out here, and we can watch movies, and talk about your favorite kdrama’s, and I’ll sing all you want.” He curled up on the chair, pulling a blanket around himself, and smiling at you softly, just like he would at home. 

Key: Key would unintentionally end up making you more nervous at first. He’d listen carefully to everything the doctor had to say, taking mental notes of what he would have to do, and what you would need when you were out. He’d start asking the doctor all sort of questions you hadn’t even thought of, and this would be what would have your heart racing again, until you ended up telling him that he needed to stop, and take a breath. When he turned to you, as the doctor left, and noticed the fear on your face, he would sigh, and sit down in the chair next to your bed. He’d run a hand through his hair, before making a face at you, as he changes the subject in hopes of distracting you. 

“Well, if nothing else, this will give us an excuse to spend the next few days bingeing that drama. I need to know who she ends up with. If it’s the bad boy, i’m going to be pissed.”

Minho: Minho would try to keep you focused on what you would be able to do once the surgery was done, making plans for afterward. He’d smile, and sit with you, talking about anything he could think about. He would be calm, and mostly unworried, as he had faith in the doctors, and would just want you to be able to have something to look forward to. He’d try thinking of something you hadn’t been able to do yet, in order to plan it out. 

“Oh! Next weekend, we could go see that movie, and then have a big dinner. We can call it a date night! I could even make reservations, and we could go somewhere fancy, and dress up!” 

Taemin: Taemin would try to listen to what the doctor was saying, but halfway through, he would lose track, and instead just ask the doctor if it was all going to be on a handout. When the doctor assured him that it would be, he would nod, letting out a sigh of relief. From there on, he would be focused on making you laugh, knowing that it would help you forget your nerves, and that it would distract you, even if only because you were telling him to stop saying dumb things. 

“Hey, with the IV in your hand, it kind of looks like a narwhal. You’re a sea creature now.” He laughed, as you looked at him like he was an alien. “Taemin...you’re dumb.” He smirked and began singing Dumb Dumb by Red Velvet obnoxiously, adding in the dance when you started laughing.
