Healthcare Professions I Think Different DC Charcters Would Have

Context: I have been googling new job ideas

Damian al Gaul / Wayne

Pediatric oncologist

^^ this came to me in a vision and it inspired the rest of this post

1) I think he would be good woth kids because I think he is kind, 2) I think he would be good with kids because everyone was lowkey mean to him as a kid so he knows what not to do

I can't definitively explain why I am so passionate about damian working with kids who have cancer I just am okay

I have been struck by visions of him explaining to parents what is going on and being patient even when they get upset and yell at him and ask why he can't fix it

I think he would be good do a good job at delivering bad news. I think he keeps working for the days he gets to deliver good news.

I think some of his patients come and visit him when they are all grown up

^^This is also connected to my belief that donna should lead the UN or would be a diplomat if she was a normal civilian

Anyways I think she would be so so so so so so so SO good at the policy/ advocacy part of health

I feel like the public health part of healthcare is often forgotten but its so incredibly necessary and it fuels and drives the health of nations and the healthcare environment healthcare workers practice in

Anyways I know donna is advocating for clean water as a human right, access to reproductive care, universal healthcare, and more

I think she would navigate the world of policy very naturally and know when a policy window has appeared and its time to push for change and which things can be comprised on to ensure policies are still implemented

She would make the world a better place

Pretty sure he is one in absolute batman and I completely see this

He would thrive in a fast paced environment and world like meeting new ppl all the time

His co workers wouldn't let him drive the ambulance

Someone get this woman in a goddamn lab I know she's eating it up

She would solve Alzheimer's

Give her a few months and a shit ton of fund trust me she could do it I can see it in a dream

I know she's marching up to the deans office in the middle of the day to bang on his door and demand more funding and TRUST SHE ALWAYS GETS HER FUNDING

I feel like this would be such a natural career for her considering her curiosity and driven personality

She has 2 PhDs, a masters and is in the process of getting a bachelor's in poli sci for the love of the game

She gives the university admin board a headache and is the greatest public liability because she keeps yelling at the ethics board but she also keeps publishing groundbreaking articles and getting every government grant so the uni shuts up accepts their fate

Was originally going to put her as a radiologist cause of her attention to detail + radiologists don't really interact with patients they just read mri/ct/ultrasounds/xray/etc and diagnose ppl with stuff

But then I remembered the panel where she has to talk to a the victim mother of the murderer whose life she saved and I thought to myself why put my girl in a comfortable position when she could instead be put in a situation

With that being said I do think she would be great at this

She cares so deeply and understands the situation families are put in and is not condescending or pushy she's just a good listener and support as they navigate the process while at the same time remembering the weight of the situation

His romcom montage moment is going from being a nurse at the local clinic in smallville to working at a big hospital in metroplois

((He would still be working inpatient at the metropolis hospital btw I don't see him working in the Er))

He has great bedside manner he's very sweet

I will also accept him being an intern at a medical research centre so that he can twin with Lois

I feel like she would like listening to all the residents stories and getting to know them

Also I think it matches how she can be a bit pessimistic at times

But primarily the vibes fit

Basic as hell answer but also I still think they fit

Bioinformatics bevause I think she'd be really good at data analyst and I can her her working with policymakers and reasechers and talking about the different health trends they have observed

I think it mimics her rope as oracle where she can provide info but isn't the final person on the ground doing the thing

Also 911 dispatchers because that's the most obvious translation of her role as oracle to a healthcare career

Diana of Themyscira

Thought about this so deeply and I would love further insight if anyone has some but from as or rn this is the only medical role i could imagine her in

I think she would notice/overhear you mention your tooth hurts and something in her brain would click and she would be like "wait I know what to do" and then offer to pull your tooth out

For the record I think she'd be super good at it

She'd tie a string around it, pull it out really quickly, give you a tissue to stop the bleeding, pat you on the shoulder, give you a candy her mom packed and tell you that you did a great job (10/10 unlisecened 7 yr old dentist tbh)

She probably does this multiple times before a teacher notices and calls her moms and then comes the world's most awkward parent-teacher conference

Diana is staring wide eyed and innocent (she's doesn't think she's down anything wrong), hippolayata is incredibly tired, philippus is trying not to laugh, and the teacher is trying to figure out a way to explain this that doesn't make the school sound incompetent

This is the 3rd time they have had to come to the school over diana this month

Chapter 1 — Pull The Plug In September, I Don’t Wanna Die In June — Babs

Dick and Jason help Babs out when she’s overworking.

Sparks danced in the shadows as a young man with dark hair moved with precision and speed. His eyes, a piercing green, remained focused on the task at hand, each blow of his hammer shaping a piece of scrap into a recognizable form. His muscles flexed beneath a worn-out shirt, sweat beads forming a delicate pattern down his forehead as he worked. The name "Jason" was carved onto the wooden workbench before him, something he’d done in what seems like a lifetime ago now…

Outside, the Gotham night was alive with the distant murmur of sirens and the occasional screech of tires. It was a soundtrack that had become all too familiar to Jason. The garage door rumbled open, and a figure emerged from the darkness, the bright lights of the city silhouetting him.

Dick, with his acrobatic grace, leapfrogged over a stack of tires and landed lightly beside Jason, his eyes scanning the progress on the bike.

"Looking good," Dick said, his voice carrying a hint of genuine admiration. "But I thought you'd be out on patrol by now."

Jason grunted in response, not taking his eyes off his work. "Couldn't leave it half done," he said, his voice gruff but not unkind. "It's like leaving a puzzle unfinished."

Dick chuckled. "Some things never change." He paused, watching Jason's intense concentration before his gaze drifted over to the clock on the wall. “I came by because we've got a situation. Barbara's been burning the midnight oil again, and she's not picking up."

At the mention of Barbara, Jason's hand stilled. The concern in Dick's voice was palpable, and it resonated with him. He knew the cost of pushing oneself too hard all too well.

"What's Red working on this time?" he asked, setting down his hammer.

Dick shrugged. "The usual. Cases that the GCPD can't crack, keeping tabs on the new players in town, and juggling her day job. But she's been at it for days without a break."

The two men shared a look that spoke volumes. Both of them knew Barbara, the brilliant mind behind the screen of Oracle, and her unyielding dedication to the mission. But they also knew her as Babs, who was human, family, and a friend. Dedication like hers often leads to overworking. It was clear to Dick that Barbara was pushing herself to the edge.

"Let's go check on her," Jason said, wiping his hands on a grease-stained rag. He had his own battles to fight, but when it came to family, he'd drop everything. Together, the two former Robins headed out into the night, ready to offer a helping hand to their friend who was dangerously close to burning out.

Barbara's apartment was a stark contrast to the garage's chaos, a bastion of order and technology. The living room was bathed in the soft glow of computer screens, their blue light reflecting off her glasses as she typed away furiously. Her desk was littered with files and empty energy drink cans, a testament to the hours she'd spent pouring over information. Dick knocked gently on the door before pushing it open, holding a bag of takeout for the three of them in his hand.

Barbara, startled at the sudden intrusion, spinning her chair around to face them. Her eyes were bloodshot, and her posture was a tapestry of tension. "Hey, guys," she said, trying to sound casual despite her exhaustion. "What's up?"

"We brought dinner," Dick announced, setting the bag down. "And a friendly reminder that you can't save Gotham on an empty stomach."

Jason stepped closer, his gaze taking in the dark circles under Barbara's eyes. "Looks like you could use some help," he said bluntly. "You've been at this for too long."

Barbara sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. "I know," she admitted. "But there's just so much to do."

Dick placed a hand on her shoulder. "We know, Babs," he said gently. "But you can't do it all alone. Let us take some of the weight."

Her eyes searched their faces, and she saw the sincerity in their expressions. Reluctantly, she nodded. "Okay," she said, "but only because I don't want to see what kind of mess you'd make if I keeled over."

They shared a laugh, the tension in the room easing slightly. Dick and Jason split the workload, diving into the stacks of cases and intel that Barbara had amassed. They worked well into the night, their banter a soothing background noise as Barbara's shoulders gradually relaxed. The steady conversation of memories from years ago, of when they were Nightwing, Robin, and Batgirl, helped her remember the family that would stay with her forever.

"Thank you," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion.

Jason merely nodded. They had all been there before, at the precipice of collapse, held together by the bonds of family and duty. It was moments like these that reminded them why they fought, and who they fought for.

The trio tackled the tasks at hand, turning the tide of the night into something a bit more manageable. The city was still out there, waiting for them, but for now, they had each other, and that was all that mattered.
