Peter chose not to take his father’s name.
Well, ‘chose’ is a strong word. Names in the upper class world of business were used like weapons to mark territory. Peter hadn’t known much about that, being eight and all.
All he knew is that his adopted father told him that he had to earn the right to hold the family name. Peter didn’t really know what he meant by that, just that he was still Peter Parker.
And he liked being Peter Parker. Peter Parker got to go to Midtown Tech and hang out with Ned and MJ. Peter Parker went to Delmar’s Deli and got teased by the owner. Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider and became a superhero.
Yes, he liked being Peter Parker.
And he liked it even more when Tony Stark showed up at his school and offered him an internship. He liked it even more when Mr Stark told him he knew about Spider-Man and was looking to help him out.
But then he makes a breakthrough in his father’s lab and gets told it’s time he took the family name and Peter is sure that it’s not just his name that’s about to change.
After all, Stark won’t be happy about working with the son of Norman Osborn.
