Darry spends most of his life supporting his brothers. I think that is the only way he knows how to show his love. He is a total acts of service guy. He will make breakfast for you and the boys before going to work and he would do anything for you day to be a bit easier because he has it hard and he doesn’t want you to feel the same way. I also feel like he is so under appreciated so words of affirmation would be a big deal to him.
Sodapop Curtis-
Soda just radiates physical touch. Something as small as a hand on your lower back in a large crowd, playing with your fingers when standing next you him, or if you are both sitting down I feel like he would softly scratch circles on your back. I feel like he also loves gift giving but something small and sentimental. If he is at work and sees something that reminds him of you, he has to get it immediately. It might be your favorite snack or a pretty flower. I think physical touch is the main way he feels loved and appreciated as well. He just loves being loved.
Ponyboy Curtis-
I whole heartedly believe that Ponyboy hates physical touch but I think he lives for words of affirmation. His parents died when he was younger so he didn’t hear much of encouragement or congratulations after they died. He will fall in love if you give him a simple, “You did really good, Pony,” or, “Good job, Ponyboy.” He works so hard to be smart and a good person despite everything so when someone recognizes that it makes him feel really appreciated. He also says words of affirmation to others because he knows how good it makes him feel.
Dallas Winston-
This one is hard. I think he expresses his love through tiny acts of service. Small things like giving you his jacket or opening the door for you. He has had to live by himself and support himself for so long that he thinks he has to be tough all the time. He never had anyone so I think he would want to make it clear that you have him to fall back on. He doesn’t like big, cutesy shows of love because he thinks it make him look weak, but pay attention to the little things he does for you. I think he would like the same sort of support and concern back as well. It makes him feel like he is not alone.
Johnny Cade-
I think he is another one who hates physical touch but loves words of affirmation. I don’t think he likes to be touched because he is very jumpy from what his parents do to him, but then again the only attention he gets from his parents is when they are beating him. He loves to feel like he is being seen or that someone cares about him. He would love when someone just tiny checkups on him like, “You alright,” or when you would bring his opinion into the conversation. However, I think he shows his love through quality time. You don’t have to be talking or doing anything but at least you are together. Together is better than alone in his mind.
Steve Randle-
He would definitely show his love though gift giving. He says that’s the reason he has a job is to have money to spoil you. It is very rare he comes home from work without at least a little something to give you. It doesn’t always have to be big. He also loves quality time. Working on cars and talking to you at the same time is the perfect moment in his mind. The two things he loves most. He loves taking you to his drag races and rodeos because he loves when you cheer him on and support him. That’s something he didn’t get as a child.
Two-bit Mathews-
If Two-bit lives for anything it is to steal you gifts. He is a huge kleptomaniac and he is very good at stealing things, so logically he steals so much for you. Even if it is something small that he could have easily paid for, he loves stealing it for you because he thinks it is way more exciting. He also loves to make you laugh. He could live the rest of his life with the only sound in his ear being your laugh. So he will try his hardest to make you giggle constantly. I think he is also a sucker for physical touch but nothing to showy. Just like a peck on the cheek hello or a squeeze of his hand. It makes him feel special.
Hell yeah it's Dallas' birthday! I love scorpio men so much but who could blame me right. I wrote this while on a zoom lecture because once the inspo is here I need to use it immediately before it's gone forever. Anyway enjoy this little thingy. Once again I hope you're doing well <3

My knuckles hit the wooden door. Buck's was empty at this time of the day so while waiting for a certain boy to open the door I enjoyed the silence. A few moments later the door finally opened and there stood a shirtless Dallas Winston. ''Good morning Dally!'' He yawned before greeting me back. ''Good morning dollface.'' His morning voice made me weak at my knees. ''What are you doing here?'' ''Come on get ready, we're going out.'' ''What? Where's the hurry?'' ''Mr. Winston you ask too many questions. I'll tell you everything on the way.'' With a groan he closed his door and left me alone in the silence. Todays date was November 9th. To some it's just another day of the year but not to me. Today it's Dallas' birthday. He's the type of person who doesn't celebrate it but not on my watch. I planned the whole day so my favourite greaser (please don't tell the gang) could have a proper 18th birthday. After what felt like hours the said greaser came out again wearing his usual outfit. ''Gosh, you're so slow. Come on!'' I grabbed the sleeve of his trademark leather jacket before running down the stairs and out on the streets of Tulsa. Our first stop was a corner store where we were supposed to stock up on cigarettes and drinks. We did our usual performance, me flirting with the teenager behind the counter while Dallas swipes anything needed. When the cashier figured out what was going on we ran out and down the streets laughing. It took us some time to catch our breath. Man, concerning how often we do this you would think we'd be in better shape. Dallas was currently walking next to me smoking a cancer stick occasionally passing it to me to take a drag. ''So are you going to tell me why you showed up at my door at noon demanding that we go out or do I have to take back that soda?'' He gestured to the half drank drink in my hand. ''I just wanted to hang out with you.'' I said innocently. It was obvious he wasn't buying it but he shrugged and put an arm around my shoulders. He either thinks I forgot about his birthday or he was the one who forgot, I don't care which answer is the correct one as long as everything is going according to my plan. We went all around the city bumping into some familiar faces along the way. The stops I chose all had some kind of meaning. The place we met, the park where he saved me from some soc trash, our favourite hangout spots, our favourite makeout spots, we even passed next to the drive-in. Right now we were sitting on the old train tracks just enjoying the sunset. ''I can't believe you're making me watch a sunset. You have been spending too much time with Pony.'' My head was leaned on his shoulder. He acted like this was the first time we were doing that together. ''Calm down Mr Tuff guy. Watching sunsets is the best pastime. At this point, you should just admit that you enjoy it.'' He grumbled proving me right. Dallas Winston might be all cold and unapproachable on the outside but on the inside he's a big softie. Big softie who likes cuddles more than anything. Not like he'll ever willingly admit that. Dallas and I stayed like that up until the last traces of the sun were gone. Then the last phase of my plan started. ''Let's go see what the gang is up to.'' The final stop was the Curtis house. Dallas thought we were just going to hang out with the gang like I said but oh boy was he wrong. ''The lights are off. Do you think they're out?'' ''No, I am sure they're home. Let's get inside Dally.'' I pulled his arm for the 100th time today. The porch creaked as we neared the door and I pushed Dallas to go in first. When we did step inside it was silent but after a moment the lights turned on and the shouts of the gang filled the air. ''HAPPY BIRTHDAY DALLAS!'' The birthday boy stood still in shock and a look of confusion etched on his face. I can't believe the idiot actually forgot his own birthday. Since I was the closest to him I pulled him in for a hug while whispering my birthday wishes in his ear. That broke his trance and he returned the hug and kissed my head. The rest of the gang swarmed
him, while they were doing that I slipped into the kitchen. When I opened the fridge the birthday cake I brought yesterday was thankfully intact (not gonna lie I was worried about leaving it here with Steve and Two-bit). Carefully taking it in my hands I put it on the table and closed the fridge. My fingers fished a lighter from my jeans before lighting up the colourful candles. There were 18 of them and a smile was on my face while I was lighting the last one. As I made my way back to the living room the gang noticed me so we all started singing 'happy birthday' like we practised. The song ended and I was standing in front of Dallas who was looking at me weirdly. ''Blow the candles and make a wish already man!'' Two-bit yelled trying to rush him, undoubtedly Two just wanted to try the delicious looking cake. Once Dallas blew the candles out we cheered one more time and returned to the kitchen to finally cut the cake. Everyone grabbed a piece and found a place to sit. I received some compliments for my baking skills which is always a nice feeling. ''I can't believe you guys did this!'' Poor Dally was still shocked that we would do something this nice for him. ''It was Y/N's idea.'' The group nodded at me making Dallas turn his head to look at me with adoration in his eyes. ''Really?'' I chewed and swallowed the piece of cake while nodding. ''I know you don't usually celebrate your birthday but I wanted to do something special this year. I hope you're not mad or anything.'' By his body language he didn't look mad but the problem with Dallas is that he can go from 0 to 100 real fast. ''Why would I be mad? This is the nicest thing anyone ever did for me.'' Just by looking at his eyes you could see how much this meant to him. The next few hours were spent by joking around, eating cake, guys giving Dally little presents and just enjoying each other's presence. It was time for me to head home so Dallas insisted on walking me home. His arm was around my shoulders the whole time. ''Hey, I never thanked you for planning all this.'' ''Oh, you don't have to thank me. It's the least I could do.'' ''Thank you Y/N. It means a lot.'' A blush covered my cheeks but I hoped the darkness of the night would hide it. We fell into a comfortable silence that I had to break because a thought just occurred to me. ''Shoot! I almost forgot to give you your birthday present.'' My hand went to my jacket pockets taking out a small box. ''Um here! Happy birthday once again. I hope you like it.'' The box was now in his hands, opened, inside was a ring that I picked out last week. When we started going out Dally gave me his skull ring, sorta like a promise ring, so I decided to get him a new one to wear. He continued staring at it and I felt a bead of sweat race down my forehead even though it was very cold outside. My nervous thoughts vanished when Dallas hugged me tight and kissed the top of my head. ''Thank you dollface. I love it.'' He slipped the ring on his finger then intertwined his fingers with mine. He was the one to pull me after him this time. The Curtis household might have been the last stop in my plan but now Dallas' plan was in action. That's how I ended up here. In his bed, my head on his chest and his hands around my waist. ''This was the best birthday ever. I love you Y/N.''
Summary: Your at a sleepover with Angela and Sylvia and you call Sodapop to ask him out.
<><><><><>
You and Sylvia both rushed into Angela's house placing your duffel bags into a corner. You guys had been planning this for weeks and finally the day had come for a sleepover. You guys all bombarded the kitchen taking cookies, chips, ice cream, and other junk you could find.
"Woah" Curly walked into the living room as he saw all the snacks you guys had in front of the tv. Sylvia turned it on and you guys decided to watch Mickey as you painted your nails with nail polish that Sylvia stole. Curly tried to grab some chips from a bowl and Angela smacked his hand. "Seriously." Curly groaned as he walked away leaving you guys to be.
Getting bored of Mickey, Angela and Sylvia began to talk about their relationships. "Dallas is so weird, in public he always tried to make it seem like he don't know me and then in private he wants to be all over me, I really thought he changed this time." Sylvia complains. "Do you think he will ever ask you to go steady." Angela asked as she painted her nails. "He better soon." Sylvia giggled, "You know your brother is not so bad." Sylvia whispered. "Ew" Angela shrieked and you all started laughing. "I've been talking to Bryon more, I think he plans to ask me out tomorrow, he asked me if I could meet him at the Dingo in the afternoon." Angela giggled. "Are you sure it's not a date." You asked. "A date in the afternoon, I don't think so Y/N." Sylvia grinned at you as she passed you nail polish. "How about Soda?" Angela looked up at you grinning. "What about him?" You said innocently as you continued to paint your nails. "You guys definitely like each other." Angela smiled. "I thought he liked Sandy." You continued to look at your nails. "NO she likes him, he likes you those are two different things." Sylvia states. "Then why hasn't he asked me out then." You finally looked up from your nails.
"You know what I never understand." Angela begins. "Why can't girls ask out a guy? I mean guys have it easy they get to do the asking while we have to sit here and wait for someone to acknowledge us." Angela whined. "Angie you got a point." Sylvia stood up. "We shouldn't have to wait for some guy to ask us, we should be able to ask him too." Sylvia said. She started walking towards Angela's room, causing you and Angela to follow.
"What are you doing?" Angela asked as you guys watched Sylvia sit on Angela's bed and dial a number. You and Angela shrugged at each other not knowing what she was doing. "Hello Buck. Is Dal there?" She asked. You and Angela got closer to her and tried to listen to what was being said. "Hello." You guys heard a voice. "Dal. This is Sylvia. I´m going to make this quick. Since you haven't had the balls to ask me to go steady I'm asking you. So would you like to go steady with me?" Sylvia finally asked. You guys waited for an answer. "Yeah of course" You could hear Dallas chuckled through the phone. "See you tomorrow?" Sylvia had the biggest smile on her face. "Yeah see you tomorrow." And with that she hung up.
"Your turn." She handed the phone to you. "Me..." You stuttered. "Yeah come one Y/N call Soda up ask him on a date." Sylvia encouraged you. "Come on Y/N." Angela grinned. "Ok fine." You sit on Angela's bed, phone in hand, and dialing up his number which you've memorized because you wanted to call him but never had the courage too. "What if he says no." You asked, the line ringing. "His loss." Sylvia said. "Hello." You heard a voice. Angela and Sylvia both giggled. "Hi is Soda there?" You asked. "Soda" You heard someone scream on the phone, followed by light footsteps. "Hello." You recognized Soda's voice. "Hi Soda it's Y/N." You started. "Oh hey Y/N how are you?" He exclaimed. "I'm good," You gulped. "I was calling because I was wondering if maybe you would like to go out on a date." You held your breath as you waited for a response. "I would like that." Soda smiled through the phone "Oh really." You exhaled. "So I was thinking of a movie and a milkshake." You said as you twirled the phone cord. Angela and Sylvia giggled. After you finished talking to Soda you guys all squealed together. Causing Tim and Curly to wake up. Oops.

She knew she shouldn’t be visiting him in the middle of the night. Slowly dragging her feet down the sidewalk, she willed herself to stop, to go home before this got out of hand, but she continued anyway. She hated herself every time she did it, but she needed him. She needed him just as much as she didn’t want to see him. What started as something simple morphed into something she would have never anticipated. And unrequited love is painful in any situation, even when you already know the most intimate parts of someone. Steve was her friend; she wasn’t supposed to fall in love with him.
What was just supposed to be a one time endeavor many months ago had quickly become a frequent occurrence between them. In the beginning, they both agreed that it was strictly sex. No feelings. And, it was fun for a while. They had gone on many adventures together, having fun in many different places. But it was also more than that. They did spend quite a bit of time together, and told each other almost everything. When they were finished they’d always cuddle, sometimes for hours. They talked about anything and everything. He knew things about her no one dared to discover in a long time, and they were happy together. That was until she started feeling much different about him.
What was it about that boy? His cockiness? His crooked smile? His nose? Whatever it was she couldn’t place her finger on it. She didn’t quite know when these feelings for him erupted either. One day, she found herself daydreaming about him for quite a long time. Then, the next time she saw him, she suddenly got nervous and butterflies swarmed in her stomach. She knew what that meant, the rule was broken. How do they go from there? What if one day he found another girl, one that he wanted to make his own. What was she to do then? Her stomach would twist uncomfortably at the thought, but she kept those feelings repressed until they bottled up inside and she couldn’t continue any longer.
Tonight was the night. She was going to put a stop to it before she got hurt, and the decision was final.
She approached his house with caution, trying to avoid making too much sound as she walked up the steps of the porch. He had been expecting her, as when she made it to the door he was already standing there; nude aside from a pair of boxers. She’d seen him naked countless times before, but it seemed like now every time she saw him, she was progressively more nervous than the last. She quickly took a glance at him, noticing his disheveled hair and tired eyes. She looked away, too shy to hold any sort of eye contact.
“Hello, (y/n),” He purred, quite happy to see her.
“Hi, Steve.” She replied, looking everywhere else but him. Her face was burning like the sun, she hoped he didn’t notice.
He stepped aside and motioned for her to enter. She kept her head low as she walked past him and made her way to his room, something she’d done countless times in the past. She sat on his bed as he entered, closing the door behind him. The moonlight filtered in from the window, illuminating the room in a dull glow.
Without any words, he gently guided her onto her back, positioning his figure on top. Her heart pounded in her chest as she felt his warm breath on her face. She wanted him, but the fact that they were only supposed to be friends with benefits simply wasn’t okay. New emotions got in the way and she didn’t want that for them anymore. She wanted something more, but she wasn’t sure if her wish would ever be fulfilled.
She was pulled from her thoughts as Steve pressed his lips to hers. He needed her. For a moment, she was in paradise, His strong figure covering and protecting her, his lips moving together with hers, feeling him pressed against her thigh. But that was only for a moment, then the negative thoughts pushed their way back in.
She put her hands on his bare chest, trying to push him off. He realized immediately and climbed off of her, standing at the foot of the bed.
“What’s wrong?” He asked in a concerned tone, wiping the stray spit from his lip.
She sat up and looked down, balling her fists on her knees. A lump formed in her throat. “I-I can’t do this anymore, Steve.”
He sat down beside her and put his arm around her. “Did I do something wrong?” he asked, pulling her close.
“No,” She said, not wanting to give too much information.
He sat there, rather unsatisfied with the answer. “Well, what is it then?”
“I think it’s best if we just stop this.” She said flatly.
He was dumbfounded. She seemed quite eager about the idea when he proposed it all those months ago. “Why?”
She didn’t want to tell him the answer. She couldn’t. No feelings; it was what they agreed on. The unrequited love made her embarrassed and upset. She hadn’t anticipated this, and some distance was what she decided was best. She sat there with his arm wrapped around her, trying to think of an excuse.
She simply shook her head. “I should probably leave now.” She said, trying to get up but a firm hand grasped her wrist.
“What is wrong, (y/n)?” He asked again, a tone of urgency in his voice.
“I just think we need space.” she said quietly, not turning around to look at him. He stood up and turned her around, hands firmly placed on her shoulders.
“But why? I thought we had something good going here.” He said with pleading eyes.
She continued to avoid his gaze, looking to the floor as she spoke quietly, “I can’t keep this up if I’m in love with you.”
“W-what?” Steve said. Before he could say anything else she escaped from his hands and was already out the door. “Wait, (y/n!)” he ran after her, but by the time he made it to his front door, she had already made it to the sidewalk, running down the street and escaping into the night.
-
She spent three next few weeks actively avoiding Steve. She knew where he’d be most days, swapping from the DX to the Curtis house. Even though she missed the boys, she thought it best to stay away as much as possible. It hurt at first, but as time went on she slowly started to forget about him, keeping herself occupied with her friends and family.
All her progress was reversed one fateful evening when she was reading in her backyard. It was a nice mild evening, the ambient noises in the neighborhood calming and tranquil. The sun was just begging to set, but she was too occupied to notice. Her nose was buried in the book, her legs splayed out before her as she laid down on her lawn chair. She had just gotten to the climax, reading intently; she didn’t notice someone approach her.
“(Y/n?)” the voice asked. She looked up and her heart jumped as she saw Steve standing there. He looked cleaner than usual, his clothes free of any rips or grime, and his hair was in perfect condition.
“Steve!” She gasped nervously as she sat up properly in her lawn chair. “How did you-“
“Your mom told me you were in the backyard.” He said awkwardly.
“I see,” she replied, closing her book and placing it on her lap. He stared at her with heartfelt eyes.
She noticed him staring and felt awkward. “What are you doing here?” She questioned cautiously, feeling worried by his presence.
“Oh!” He said, being pulled from his thoughts. He took a seat at the end of the lawn chair, pulling out a small bouquet of flowers from behind his back. “I, uh, brought you these.” He said. She was taken by surprise at the gesture, but flattered none the less.
“Oh, thank you.” she hesitated, grasping the small bundle. They look like they’d just been picked. “How have you been?” She asked, breaking the ice.
“Good,” he shrugged. “Not much else has been happening. The boys have been wondering where you’ve been.”
She picked at the flowers in her hand, gently ripping off the small leaves near the bottom of the stems. “Just needed to do my own thing for a while.”
Steve nodded as he looked down at his hands, his fingers fumbling with nervousness. “What happened to us, (y/n?)?” He blurted out.
She sighed heavily. “Do I really need to repeat myself?” She asked. A light blush touched her cheeks at the thought of having to pour her feelings out to him again.
He sat quietly for a moment, pondering the past. “Do you remember how it started?”
She scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Yes-“
“Why did we only agree to make it that? No strings attached?” He asked.
“Why are you-“
“It’s a genuine question, (y/n), because I don’t really know.”
She placed the flowers beside her on the chair and crossed her arms defensively. “I don’t know.” She said flatly.
Steve looked at her with pleading eyes. “Listen, (y/n).” He began. “I’m sorry things turned out the way they did. I’ve really missed you these past few weeks. It’s been hard not seeing you.” He looked at her, waiting for a response. She sat there, tight lipped, gazing at him and not saying a word. He sighed before continuing. “I guess, what I’m trying to say is I miss you. And I was wondering... if we could try again-”
She furrowed her brow, anger surging within her as she listened to him speak. She stopped him before he could explain further.
“You came over and offered me these just to ask if we can go back to fucking again?” She scoffed. “Do you not remember what I told you, Steve? We can’t go back to that!”
“No! That’s not what I meant!” He defended, inching closer before continuing. “That came out wrong.” He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, messing it up a bit. “What I meant was I miss you. I miss the laughs we had, and the cuddling we did. These past few weeks have been kinda hard not seeing you. We got along really well, don’t you think?”
She sat there bewildered at the words that were falling from his lips. Was she dreaming? Her heart began to skip beats which made her realize that no, this was real.
“Look, what I’m trying to say is I want to try again, but I want you to be my girlfriend this time.” He put a hand on her thigh. “I didn’t want to say anything earlier because what we had was working. I didn’t think you felt anything else for me.”
“Oh my,” She began. “I’m so sorry I got so upset.” she said, climbing onto her knees to sit closer to him. It made sense now, why he looked so put together tonight and why he brought her flowers. She smiled to herself knowing he went out of his way to make sure he looked his best.
“I was too afraid to tell you sooner.” She said. “I guess we probably need to communicate better.”
“I thought you knew!” He laughed. “I thought I was being very obvious. We were a lot closer than just two people who fuck. At least, that’s what I thought.”
Though this is the outcome she wanted, she never anticipated it. The love was never unrequited, they were just afraid to lose each other.
“So, what do you say?” He said, gazing at her with his brilliant blue eyes.”Be my girlfriend, (y/n)?”
“I’d love that.” She grinned widely. She pressed a quick peck to his lips before pulling away.
“What the hell was that?” He asked.
“What do you mean?” She asked, taken aback by his tone.
“That wasn’t a kiss. This is a kiss.” he said, lunging forward and pressing his lips to hers. She fell back onto the lawn chair as he steadied himself on top.
This felt right. No fear of losing him, no worries about how he really felt about her. It was perfect, and she couldn’t be happier.
hey guysss dont mind me idk how to color rip, oh and this is in Dally’s POV atm bc i dont think i wrote anything really saying who was talking
Warnings: imma put these for the whole mf series bc im lazy but umm drugs/alcohol, gangs, gang violence, gang activity in general, death, police violence, discrimination, racism, cursing
Summary: This is wtf dally was doin in ny for like 3 years
That was always my first reaction to police sirens. They were always blaring around here. What’d you expect? This is lower East Bronx, not really the ideal place to live. The cops were always after someone around here. I honestly wish they would just fuck off. I wasn’t really too fond of the cops and you can’t blame me for it. If you saw half the things they did to people you wouldn’t be either. That’s just the way things are. I had it easier than most of the people I hung around with, the color of my skin let me get away with more than the average hood. You see, I was one of the few white people runnin’ around in gangs. And I’m not sayin’ that people of color are all bad and running around robbing people and shit like that. The color of someone’s skin never determines that. And trust me, if we had a choice we wouldn’t be doin’ half the shit we do. This is the only was for us to make money; to survive. Kill or get killed. That’s something Julissa liked to say.
Julissa. Oh was that an interesting character, and I don’t mean that in a bad way at all. Interesting’s good around here. Where do I start? She lied, she cheated, she stole; but that was normal around here. She was anything but just being all talk, and she always had your back, if you didn’t piss her off. But she was loyal to the people she was down with, and that’s the realist shit you’ll find around here.
Usually, I wouldn't drink beer. Darry would kill me if he figured out I did. That's why I never touch a beer bottle. But tonight, I decide to break the rules.
I'm at a party with Johnny.
We don't usually go to parties, but tonight, we thought it would be best to go. Johnny and I never go to Curly Shepard's parties, and he's been inviting us to them for two years.
Johnny told me when we were walking home from school, "Maybe we should go, Pony."
I told him, "Well, I guess we can. It's your eighteenth birthday, we should celebrate."
That's why we're here.
Johnny and I are in the backyard talking about the rumble that's coming up. We're both on our second beers and I think we both are getting tipsy. We are lightweights for sure if we're like this.
"I don't understand," Johnny takes a sip of his beer, "Why is there even a rumble? What the hell happened?"
"No one told you?" I ask. I'm surprised Dally didn't tell him anything about what happened.
"No," Johnny shakes his head, "Dal would have told me, but he's been busy talking to Tim Shepard's gang."
"Sodapop and Steve talked to this Soc named Cherry Valance," I explain, "Apparently, Cherry and Sodapop were flirting with each other a little bit, and the soc's boyfriend got mad. Later that day, the boyfriend and a few of his friends beat up Soda and Steve."
"The gang didn't help him out?" Johnny takes another sip of his beer.
"Well, we were at school, Darry was at work, Dally was in jail at the time, and Two-bit was at the bar," I sigh, "I wish we were there to help them. They weren't banged up too bad, though. Soda and Steve only came home with cuts and bruises."
"That's good. At least they didn't have any broken bones," Johnny finishes of his beer then he throws the empty bottle on the ground.
I take a big sip of my beer before I tell him, "Cherry's boyfriend called the rumble. He's gathering as many Socs as he can. Dally has been talking to Tim's gang, they're going to rumble with us."
"That's good," Johnny smiles, "I'm going to get another beer," he gets up from his seat, "Do you want another?"
"Yeah, sure," I drink the rest of my beer while Johnny walks away.
I'm not ready for the rumble. It's in two days and we have to go on Soc territory. This is going to get very bloody. I know Johnny and I will get the most beat up, we're the weakest of them all.
Soda and Steve screwed up, this rumble is unnecessary.
"Here," Johnny gives me another beer. I open it up and I start drinking it, "Are you having fun-"
We hear screaming coming from the house. I see red and blue lights flashing on the side of the house. People are running out of the house. Johnny and I get up and start running. We hear the fuzz shouting at everyone, but we run for our lives.
"Let's get back to the house!" I shout. We stop running since we're in a safe distance from the house.
"The DX is right here," Johnny points at the gas station, "Soda and Steve are here so let's-"
"I don't know," I say.
"Do you want Darry to find out?" Johnny asks. He's talking about me drinking, "Soda and Steve won't tell him. Can we go in?"
"Okay," I say before we walk into the DX store. I accidentally run into something. It was a newspaper stand, "Oops."
"Really, Ponyboy?" Steve runs over to me, "What the hell is wrong with you?" He starts picking up newspapers. I try walking towards Sodapop and Two-bit, but I trip and fall.
For some reason, I start laughing. Johnny and Two-bit are laughing at me while Sodapop comes over to help me up, "Pony, are you okay-" he smells me, "You've been drinking? How many beers did you have?"
"Three?" I look at Johnny, my brother does too. Johnny nods, "Yeah, three."
"You shouldn't have came here," Soda says, "You and Johnny need to leave before Darry comes."
"He's coming here?!" I almost shout.
Sodapop shushes me, "Yeah," He nods, "Darry is going to Dairy Queen with Steve and I."
"Shit," I say. I don't usually swear, but when I get really high or drink a lot, I start swearing like a sailor, "Johnny, man, lets go."
"Uh, Pony?" Johnny looks scared now. He's looking at something I'm not.
"He's behind me, isn't he?" I ask Two-bit, Johnny, and Sodapop. They all nod slowly, "Wonderful," I say sarcastically before I turn around.
"I had a good talk with Tim and Curly Shepard before I came here," Darry's arms are crossed and he's giving me a mean look, "So I heard you went to Curly's party?"
I don't say anything. I'm losing my balance. Soda grabs me before I bump into him, "Uh, yeah, I went to the party," I smile nervously.
"Yeah," Darry nods. He's so angry, "Pony and Johnny, get in the car," I try to say something, but Darry shouts, "NOW!" Johnny and I jump, "GO!" Darry points at the door. We both run out and get into his car.
"Pony, we're in so much trouble," Johnny is shaking. I put an arm around him to comfort him, "Oh god."
Darry is talking to Two-bit, Sodapop, and Steve. We watch them talk before Darry walks out of the DX store. He gets into the car and tells us, "You're going to Dairy Queen with us. Have you ate?"
"No," Johnny and I say.
"Okay, you two have to eat," Darry says, "When we get back to our house, we're going to have a good talk."
"Okay," Johnny and I say before Darry drives out of the DX parking lot.
