So I reached out to a former professor to ask for a letter of recommendation for PhD applications, and he replied enthusiastically but asked me to “write a recommendation letter for yourself (i.e., ‘you’ through your own eyes).”
Which I absolutely cannot do. I’m an incredibly humble, self-effacing Catholic, and I find this request to be completely humiliating. Every time I even think about writing and submitting such a thing to him, it brings tears to my eyes.
So this is where I’m at. My total inability to speak positively about myself and my achievements has already crushed my grad school dreams.

Concept: I sleep 8 hours per day and still get all my tasks done, my citations are all in order, I travel to new locations twice a year and I never having pending laundry.
