Shang Qinghua, after years of service as a peak lord and also Mobei Jun’s spy, sudenly deals with a system glitch. A system glitch so bad that his system goes offline and he is ejected from original SQH’s body and into a rough replica of his real body in his fictional world while the system undergoes a several week long reboot. Realizing MBJ was probably still going to kill SQH hits kinda different when it’s no longer him he is going to kill, but the poor doomed character he wrote into the narrative that is actually very similar to himself. Original SQH and Airplane talk, bond over how pathetic they both are, and decide to run away together from both the sect and MBJ since the system isn’t currently around to tell him he can’t and he has no clue when it will come back online, if ever.

Cue the sect and the demon realm both turning upside down over night because of their absence, and both groups going crazy trying to track down OG SQH as well as the strange little man who nobody recognizes but seems to be the cause of him running away.

Before Ever After Rewrite AU Ideas

I don’t know what it says about a series when the fandom rewrites entire seasons but it’s probably not good.

Cassandra’s dream was to save the Lost Princess

What if Before Ever After started the day of Rapunzel’s return?

That same day, Cassandra had found a gap in her schedule and slipped away to....train in the woods. Revealing her deepest desire to the audience with a truckload of dramatic irony. Immediately marking her as sympathetic and giving her hatred of Eugene some additional weight.

I think the best introduction for a surprise villain character from would have been to drop the Disney formula and show the audience more of who she is even if she would then hide it from other characters. As it was, she was coded villain from the start and it didn’t sit well when she befriended Rapunzel, at least for me.

While in the forest, Cassandra sees a huge flash of golden light and decides to check it out. She comes to the tower just after Rapunzel and Eugene left it. 

Connecting Cassandra to Gothel almost immediately also makes it look less like a shit decision. She isn’t certain of anything but it’s potentially foreshadowing the later reveal

She goes up the tower and considers what she finds immediately heads back to the kingdom.

While doning her waiting maid apparel (as she would have likely served the Queen with another 2-3 young women) The Captain comes to usher her quickly to an audience with the King and Queen. 

On the way, the palace is a buzz and Cass asks what’s going on, the Captain explains, the princess has been found and returned and the King asked for you. The Captain stops them before entering the throne room, straightens two tiny threads of Cassandra’s appearance and his typical stoic look is clearly conflicted with a lot of emotion as he opens the door

“In light of my daughter's return I have decided to assign you as her lady in waiting.” Cassandra’s surprised, excited and a bit disappointed. Likely, she’ll have less time to train now. As she stands to accept the King’s decision he continues, “I want to be clear, Cassandra. Your...particular skillset is not being overlooked in this choice. My daughter will not be taken from me again.” 

Cassandra has to stop herself from staring at Rapunzel; she’s beautiful and radiant. Everything she’d imagined their princess would be and more

Off to the side of the room, Cassandra catches a familiar face out of the corner of her eye. And not in a good way. Cassandra immediately moves herself between Rapunzel and Flynn Rider ready to draw one of her knives when The King tells her to stand down.

Cassandra is introduced to Eugene Fitzherbert, once Flynn Rider, the man who brought the princess back. Cass really must have pulled a face cause Eugene immediately commented on it-she’s hated him ever since.

The man who got in the way of what should have been her destiny.

Most of BEA happens as it did; the hair returns, Cassandra give Eugene snarky but solid advice and the threat of Cassandra being sent to a convent is very much real post hair return.

Cassandra leaves before the season starts and before she has a chance to be found out. 

Basically, all this is to create a MUCH more compelling and more believable betrayal at the end of season 2. 

The Sundrop and the Moonstone were designed to be together by the fates themselves; what better way to regain the destiny that was stolen from her than the become the Sundrop’s counterpart herself?

Cassandra takes the Moonstone but she doesn’t turn on Rapunzel; she takes Rapunzel. Because of how the powers interact, Cassandra discovers she can actually control the intensity to which Rapunzel can call upon the stones. She weakens her. (Raps can do this later but not yet.) Realizing the Dark Kingdom is not going to be the best place to stay and/or hide, she turns to leave with Rapunzel in tow.

Eugene calls out that he will never stop looking for them. Cassandra shoots back, good luck doing that when you can’t see. She blinds him. And THAT’S what makes Cassandra an enemy for Rapunzel. 

And, fine, THAT’S the parallel drawn between her and Gothel.

Also, Season 3 would then be fairly Team Awesome-heavy, giving plenty of space for growing Lance’s character. (And can you IMAGINE the trial and error inventions Varian is going to concoct to help remedy the blindness/make Eugene’s life easier?! These three are RIFE with comedic potential that would easily balance out the drama of the girls’ interactions!)

OTP Imagine/Prompt One

Person A is the leader of a army/group of people who are trying to take over the world. One day A dies in a battle or something. Their final wish is for their partner, Person B, to take over the army/group, not wanting to let A down they take over. One day a war goes down in a major city. Things go out as normal until B sees someone cradling the body of their either dead or dying lover. Once they see B they say something along the lines of, “I loved them! Have you ever loved or are you just that cruel?!” Person B is quiet for a bit, memories of A come flooding back to them. They remember how heartbroken they were and still are after A passed. They don’t want to let A down but they would never wanted anyone to feel like they did. 

What happens next is up to you.

All the Light’s Go Down

If Noctis was meant to be King of Light, then Luna was the perfect Queen of Night. For every order, Prompto stands ready, his red eyes and bloody smile matched only by Noctis’ own corruption. They bow only to her, and she is absolute.

It happened slowly, almost un-noticed until it was far, far too late. Luna had been flagging in her strength the day she went to stand before the Leviathan, she knew her powers and the weight of the ring she carried were draining what was left of her. She never guessed where it would lead. Ardyn’s blade intercepted by Noctis’, her trident retrieved and the burgundy haired man lay dead at her feet. It should’ve been a victory, her fate avoided. Instead it tasted like ash in her mouth. The look she shared with Noctis told her he felt the same, like a great shift had happened, and not for the better. The next sign had been Prompto. The blonde’s happiness seemed to be harder and harder to conjure, he was surly and when they finally got him to talk, Luna could feel her own mood darkening. He cried on them, in the room high above the freed city of Insomnia, the room that would’ve been their martial space, had things been different still. Luna wanted to be the comfort she once might’ve but instead her own fear kept her silent. Prompto spoke of dreams of blood, of eternal night, of red eyes over-taking three shades of blue. He shook and reached for Noctis, who wrapped him in the warmth of friendship and the comforts of love. Who looked at Luna with all the same worries burning. Gentiana was the final sign before the darkness took it’s due. She arrived on a cold morning, a few months after Ardyn fell. Her hair hung white as snow and she looked at Luna like a stranger.

“You are much changed, Oracle.”

Noctis, beside her with Prompto, their now constant companion, tipped his head in Gentiana’s direction. Her gaze flickered between all three of them and her brow furrowed.

“You are all changed. The starscourge, it lives in you.”

Gentiana fell away, leaving Shiva behind, a goddess ready to finish the task that Luna had started, that Noctis had been destined for, once.

Luna wanted so badly to care, but she realized, as Prompto’s gun appeared in the corner of her vision and her own weapon manifested, it was far too late for them. Luna died that day, the sweet girl who had struggled against darkness for so long was swallowed by the powers inside of her, by the small seed of ego in her heart.

Queen Lunafreya rose from her ashes. Shiva, bound to her will, the Lucian king kneeling before her, Prompto a ready killer at his side.
