Well, I’ll Be Your Partner In Crime by @prosciuttoe
wc: 11402; rating: M; status: 1/1, complete
summary: “Are you telling me you deprived me of my makeover montage?” He cuts in, clearly amused. “Clarke, come on. It’s practically a requirement for all the nineties movies.”
She wrinkles her nose at him, exasperated. “You can’t seriously be comparing this to a nineties movie.”
“Why not? We’re pretending to date,” he points out, ticking off his fingers. “You’re popular while I’m not. Oh, and we’re also complete opposites when it comes to everything else. Honestly, we just need a makeover scene to round things out. Give it color.”
Or: Apparently, the first step to restoring Clarke Griffin’s celebrity status is to date someone completely outside her stratosphere. Namely, Bellamy Blake. She’s not entirely convinced that it’s a good idea.

First of all, I’d like to thank the gods for letting me review my absolute favorite trope: fake relationship. Second of all, I’d like to thank the voters for picking such an excellent example of this particular genre.
The summary immediately sets the tone for the fic - Bellamy is complaining about not getting his makeover montage. We’ve all seen the before and after in the movies - and let’s be real, we love it. Prosciuttoe is aware we’ve seen this trope before, and she plays it to perfection.
“Wait, don’t pull away… Not yet.” or "You're hiding under the blanket because you're blushing?" for bellarke <3
this got angsty wow. guess it’s one of those days. I hope you like it, anon. thank you so much for sending it in <3
“Wait, don’t pull away… Not yet,” Clarke whispers, mouth pressed to the skin where Bellamy’s neck meets his shoulder.
She’s not ready to let him go. She’s never going to be ready to let go. Bellamy tightens his arms around her like he’s thinking the exact same thing.
Her fingers clutch his shirt but eventually she brings herself to ease her grip.
Bellamy’s arms loosen when Clarke steps back, but he keeps his hands on her waist, thumb sliding beneath her shirt and grazing the skin above her jeans. Clarke wipes away the tears on her cheek with the back of her hand and gives him a watery smile.
“It’s not forever,” she says. A promise.
“No, it’s not.” he says. A vow.
“But it’ll be a long time.”
Bellamy nods.
It was only last week that Bellamy got the phone call that changed everything. They had gone from two kids falling in love safely inside the bubble of their college in New York into two people breaking their own heart for a better reason in the span of twenty minutes.
Twenty minutes before Bellamy’s knees hit the floor at the news that his mother had gotten in a car accident. And that she hadn’t made it.
Clarke had been there that night. And every night since. She helped him book his ticket, helped him pack his bags. Helped him figure out what the hell to do.
Because now it was on Bellamy to raise his twelve year old sister. There was no one else. At twenty, Bellamy was giving up college and moving across the country to be a parent to the sister who was now the only family he had left.
And even though she would never ask Bellamy to stay, watching him leave is the hardest thing Clarke’s ever had to do.
Bellamy was her every day. The first person she saw most mornings and the last person she talked to every night. Bellamy was her every day, her best friend, her heart, and now she has to watch him walk away. Not knowing when she might see him again.
The front of Bellamy’s shirt is stained with Clarke’s tears and one of his own runs down his cheek, connecting his freckles into the most heartbreaking constellation.
But she wouldn’t love Bellamy if he wasn’t the kind of guy who would leave his life to take care of his sister.
He cradles her face in his hand.
“I’m gonna miss you like hell, princess.”
For once, she lets the nickname slide.
“I’m gonna miss you too.”
She kisses him for the thousandth time and what feels like the last and then Bellamy’s picking up his bag.
And then he’s walking away.
He looks back once. She keeping watching for what feel like forever and still no time at all.
And then, he’s gone.
Send me a prompt from this list + a ship and I’ll write you a drabble!
@ fanfic writers why are you all updating your fics on sundays? all week i have nothing to read and sunday comes and i can’t choose which to read first
Okay hmm, how about the 100 and the flash?
The 100
my all-time ultimate fave character: Bellamy
a character I didn’t used to like but now do: Thelonius and I were a little iffy for a bit there but in his defense the writers weren’t giving him much so I just wasn’t interested more than anything.
a character I used to like but now don’t: Octagon
a character I’m indifferent about: Jasper tbh
a character who deserved better: WELLS JAHA
a ship I’ve never been able to get into: Br.aven
a ship I’ve never been able to get over: Blarke
a cute, low-key ship: Bartender Mechanic could have been so cute
an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: -
a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: I hate Octi.lian with a passion
my favourite storyline/moment: 3x02 really fucked me up tbh like a shipper’s dream. But S1 overall was fantastic I miss the Dropship days.
a storyline that never should have been written: Octagon S3 onwards
my first thoughts on the show: I literally did not like anyone. No joke I was annoyed by every character until Raven showed up and we got Bellamy backstory.
my thoughts now: It’s hell but I’m a loyal hoe so here I am.
The Flash
my all-time ultimate fave character: Iris
a character I didn’t used to like but now do: -
a character I used to like but now don’t: Jay
a character I’m indifferent about: -
a character who deserved better: Eddie Thawne was a known good.
a ship I’ve never been able to get into: Anything that has Westallen with someone other than each other.
a ship I’ve never been able to get over: WESTALLEN
a cute, low-key ship: I thought Julian and Caitlin were lowkey cute so *shrug*
an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: -
a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: -
my favourite storyline/moment: “There is no Flash without Iris West.” I literally died I was on the fucking floor.
a storyline that never should have been written: Anything to do with that fucking gorilla jfc.
my first thoughts on the show: This is cute and everyone is a good?
my thoughts now: Still cute but also hurts me sometimes but also Westallen treats me better than any other ship so here we are?
send me a show!

Lina got the chance to catch up with @prosciuttoe, author of And Then We Were Chasing Comets, Just as You Are Mine, Sleight of Hand and many more on ao3.
BFF: Tell us about yourself!
Emily: I tend to be terrible at questions like these (lmao) but let me try my best: My name is Emily, I’m twenty-two, and I’m currently residing in a sunny little island known as Singapore. Other than being a Tired College Student, I also spend a whole lot of time crying over an endless amount of TV shows, books, and movies. A lot of people don’t know this about me, but I read a lot so I always have about 15 books to recommend when people ask? Like, I’d probably have become a book blog if I didn’t get sucked into the 100. Anyway, aside from that, I also do a little boxing on the side and am a bit of a lipstick aficionado.
BFF: When did you start shipping Bellarke?
Emily: I only started watching the 100 right about after season 2 ended, but I lowkey shipped Bellarke ever since season 1 when I started spotting them appearing all over my dashboard. I remember looking at all these gifsets and thinking that the way Bellamy looked at Clarke was super interesting, and being very much intrigued by their dynamic before I finally caved and watched the show. So, officially, I think I started shipping them after 1x08 (basically after the iconic day trip) but it pretty much only became a full-blown obsession after the 2x05 hug.
BFF: How long have you been writing fanfiction?
Emily: For quite a while now? I started writing Harry Potter fanfiction when I was twelve, mostly because I wanted to rewrite the entire series but with a female protagonist instead, so there was that. Then I really got into Twilight and I started writing Jacob/Bella, Jacob/Leah fanfiction (shut up) and then lastly it was Percy Jackson? So yeah, I’ve been writing fanfiction for quite a while now, but Bellarke has been the most invested I’ve ever been when it comes to fanfic writing.
BFF: Are you a part of any other fandoms?
Emily: I dabble in a bunch of other fandoms, most notably: six of crows, game of thrones, Star Wars, iZombie, and the various Marvel and DC movie universes.
BFF: What are your favourite tropes to write? Do you have favourite side-pairings or characters you also enjoy including?
Emily: Hands down, enemies to friends to lovers is my absolute favourite trope to write. It works so well with the Bellarke dynamic, for one, and I’m a huge sucker for vastly different individuals who eventually become reluctant allies and friends before eventually developing feelings for one another, like. What can I say? I’m a sucker for the build-up. I also really love fake dating, and basically just a whole bunch of pining on both sides. In terms of side-pairings, I love writing Minty in or sometimes Sea Mechanic. Those are the relationships that I enjoy most at the moment, but most of the time I only include side-pairings or characters that I feel works with the story that I’m trying to write as a whole.
BFF: What do you find challenging about writing the Bellarke relationship?
Emily: In general, trying to convey all the nuances and layers in their relationship can be tough at times because there is just so much there. I feel this a lot especially when I’m trying to write a modern au, or basically just any non-canon-verse fic where I have to try to write them in a situation which shows off their implicit trust and love in each other without, like, the threat of imminent death hanging over their heads. That can be a little tricky, especially when the fic I’m writing is very fluffy or takes place in a coffee shop or something.
BFF: What do you predict will happen in season 5? Especially for our favourite duo?
Emily: In an idealistic world where I write the show, I’d like to believe that our favourite duo would reunite and become a parental unit of sorts to Madi. But uh, considering that I don’t, I’m guessing that there’s going to be a little bit of an adjustment period for Bellarke before they start working together as seamlessly as before, and there will be all those good ol’ co-leadership vibes that we’ve been missing. (If they get to makeout while doing it, even better.)
BFF: Do you have any plans for other fics you’d like to write, if so could you spoil or tease us?
Emily: I’ve currently started writing a soulmates body swap fic based very loosely on this Japanese movie, Your Name? If you guys haven’t watched it yet, I highly recommend it. But basically, yes, there’s that, and I’m also working on several fake-dating drabbles and prompts that are piling up in my inbox.
BFF: What advice would you give novice writers?
Emily: Keep writing and reading and basically feeding yourself whatever inspiration you can find to keep yourself going, whether it’s through books or movies or real-life experience. I read in a book recently that human beings create art for many reasons - wealth, fame, love, admiration – but the one thing that produces the best results, apparently, is desire. So, if you want the thing you’re creating, just know that the beauty of it will shine through even if the details aren’t all in order, and never give up.
