I’m enjoying this book. The author recommended reading one chapter a day. Each chapter is 3-4 pages. My ex always teased me about how I read books. I read a few pages and then pause to savor them. I might think about a few pages for five minutes or 30 minutes or all day so it takes me forever to read one book. This book is designed to be absorbed this way.

One of the things I learned was how to make “done” lists. I am harshly self-critical when I’m not productive. “Done lists” remind me of how @snapthistiger writes. I think his posts are calming to read. My done lists feel the same way, and I’ve started creating them mostly for work. They help me see when I need to add self-care and make me proud when I do have self-care entries.

The last chapter I read, “Let the future be the future - on crossing bridges when you come to them” has been helpful to me with respect to my Butterfly’s domestic violence situation.

It mentions Carl Jung’s “the next and most necessary thing” philosophy, reminding me that I don’t have to live ten steps ahead of myself mentally right now. Just focus on the next most necessary step of this day for my mental/emotional/physical health, even if that is simply making a nourishing meal for all of us or taking a shower.

Sassing the Time Police 28 Mar-3 Apr

"Come on," I said. "What choice do we have? We can't stay here."

"No," the Time Cop said. "If you tried, we'd have to stop you. And if we couldn't get you through the door, we'd be forced to prune this timeline so you never came to this time. Don't make us prune you."

So we all walked through the door into the Temporal Police Station. It was looking awfully busy with Time Cops running everywhere. A different group of Time Cops crossed the room to meet us. "All right, Ms. Sampson, you're going to have to come with us."

"No," Jamal growled. "You're not taking her anywhere!"

"We're taking her to be questioned."

"And then what?"

"And then we see if your stories check out."

"Check out? Why do you need to talk to us to do that. You can just go back and check. You're time police. You travel across time."

"We're well aware of what we can and cannot do, Mr. Sampson, but we are also aware of what your daughter and her mother are capable of."

"Her mother has nothing to do with this!" Jamal replied. "We're not responsible for what she does!"

"No," the cop said. "You're responsible for what you've done and we're going to make sure that you are held accountable for it."

"And I'm just going to let my underage daughter go away with you? No lawyer? No guardian?"

"There are no lawyers in temporal law, Mr. Sampson."

"And there are no parents either?" Jamal fired back. "Is that it?"

"Fine. You want to come and sit in and stay quiet? Fine, come along. What do I care? You're both going to be asked questions and you're both going to answer them. Any funny business and you'll both be paying the price."

"Paying the price?" Tilly laughed. "You hurt me and you'll be screwing with causation seeing as how I was the one who brought you back. Without me to grow into future me, you and your buddies wouldn't exist. You want to mess with that?"

"We're fixing that issue as we speak."

"Oh, really? So, then by hurting me all you'll have to worry about is pissing off my mom. Or are you taking care of her too?"
