Watching ppl talk about the "player's" motivation for doing the weird route makes me almost batty. Yeah it would be weird for the route to hinge on some specific motive the game assumes of you, wouldn't it. It would be impossible for the Video Game to know what you're thinking. Something that significant would have to come from a fictional character which can be ascribed motives in the narrative. I wonder which character would provide the motive for weird route. Who could it possibly be.
Ok no I will be petty (on a separate post). Having susie go "it wouldn't be you talking, would it" and "I guess you weren't my real friend" about kris Being Secretly ""Another"" Person feels super bad. Like, really? At the fucking DID allegory???
i find it funny how many fan-made Frisk designs include a little bandaid on them considering one of the big revelations of Undertale is that the bandage was, in fact, a burial wrapping

Despite being a proponent of krissociation, my personal view of the game is something like that, but wrapped in the DEVICE layer as posited by device theory. I do believe DELTARUNE has something to say regarding the relationship between an author, their work, and the audience. In achieving this, the player is regarded as an entity separate from the character they experience <DELTARUNE> through, at times. It is rare, and only ever occurs on the fringes, outside the story. In the introduction, a welcome to the world of <DELTARUNE>... when we die, and we must take a step back from the story so we can turn back the clock, so to speak. At chapter's end where the author steps in again, a break, to comment on our progress.
Even now I have doubts on the old presentation of device theory in general (the use of the DEPTHS image and its significance needs to be reckoned with). In any case I think the VOICE bears significance as a character who claims ownership over the story of DELTARUNE, in such a way that regarding its appearances close to the story as simply dreams doesn't jive with me totally.
