I've been thinking about getting a doll-dress-cake for my birthday this year. (I turn 40.) These Topper Dawn clones are fun, but I'd prefer 1-4 scale.

Starlit night nails from ILNP and Pretty Serious -- June 30, 2026 -- discussed earlier

I wasn't satisfied with the bright pinks of ILNP's Malibu and Pink Lemonade (previously), so I wiped them off. Maybe the hot summer weather has made me crave the cool, crisp nights. (It's currently 60F as I write this queued post, just before midnight.)

This pic was after just 2 coats, no clean-up, and during daylight. Had to nap midway through my work, so more pics won't come until dawn.

ILNP After Hours (45) is a dream. Very little glitter, just enough to twinkle bright. The blue shimmer is definitely a sky without light pollution. My fav of this trio. Def dreamy enough on its own.

Pretty Serious "Eye of Copernicus" (81) is less dimensional, with only silver glitter and a formula that needs to be built up. Some of the glitter gets hidden as layers are added, but you can still see the texture. It stood out to me pretty fast, amid opening the box for the first time. It's a lot more subtle than so many other bottles in the collection.

Probably good to "dress up" goth nails. Would be a good background for nail art, like silver stars or using a cat-eye effect.

ILNP Comet is heavily glittered and also takes layers to build up. It's not a chunky or gritty glitter, but the shapes of the pieces are a little obvious. Like, there ends up being so many pieces together, you'd think it was almost a solid color. But then you get little gaps between the pieces, where the sheer base shows through. And, again, to build up that sheer base and not be patchy, you have to keep applying more and more glitter. I do like that the base fluid is a dark-teal-blue jelly. Little sad that it's so covered up.

I am a hermit that lives in low lighting, which doesn't show off the dimensionality of the formula. There's a subtle holo rainbow glitter catches the light occasionally, standing out against the blurred "main event" glitter. It's dispersed far more sparsely, which is another tick in its favor. ===

Eh, I'm biased and fussy, so I will critique everything. That said, I can still appreciate it. For each of these polishes, it's my first time wearing them. I'm still figuring out what I like and how to describe things.

I've been wanting to save the dark bottles of polish until autumn, but I think these dark blues are timeless. Or maybe season-less. The strange color shifts of ILNP Comet are definitely not easy to assign to an occasion. We're still getting to know each other, haha.

Three of the six colors from this collection were in the etooz box of polish. I've only completed the swatch for Soda Shoppe so far, and the "bubbles" are, indeed, blinding! I don't have a magnetic wand yet, so I can't comment on how the pigments shift.

clearing drafts - drafted April 22, 2026

I've been listening to Sleep Theory's album "Afterglow" on repeat all afternoon and loving it. There isn't a clear beginning or end to the order of tracks. It looks back on itself as if it was infinite, or perhaps perpetually on shuffle. I haven't figured out how the tracks flow from one to another yet.

I will say that a few have patterns of notes in the chorus that are similar. As I'm still getting acquainted, I mainly differentiate the tracks by lyrics. The thing is, especially with the vocal tone/cadence, I keep thinking of Panic! at the Disco's patterns. I've heard a lot of (emo?) bands of the mid to late aughts with that same style, possibly mimicking what was popular at the time. Honestly, I still hear it sometimes, as I browse music videos. But they end up sounding too similar.

And that brings me to why I like Sleep Theory, though in a casual sense. ======

That's where my draft cuts off, haha. I honestly don't remember what else I was going to say. I like that they use multiple vocalists. I like the sense of nostal-

Ohhh! I remembered now! They sound like if that emo kid from high school grew up and finally god laid. Like, he's smooth enough to flirt now. This band definitely has a different edge to them. Not necessarily more mature, but more sensual? If that makes sense? I'm sure someone more immersed in the genre and history could articulate this better.

The lyrics are the key difference in the songs. The singer(s) can flirt well, but there's also the acknowledgement of breakups and mental health. Less sludge, keeping a levity and gratitude, looking forward to the future. Again, it's like if the emo kid grew up and is in a different phase in their life. Maybe even a post-college view point?

I liked the color gradients on these Adidas bottles. The purple-to-green is my fav of the group. They feel very summery, reminiscent of the packaging on novel drinks in the early 00s. The orange-purple-pink would def be some mango berry drink.

I didn't test or sniff them. The health-and-beauty section already has a lot of strong scents, and the perfume/cologne aisle is the worst.

I lol'ed at the meme nuggets. I thought dinosaur shapes were haute cuisine, and now I know there can be other shapes of wonder. Also surprised to see purple used like this, as a food label. Just not a traditional color I expect. That and the complementary yellow caught my eye.

A woman (probably within 10 years of my age) was wearing tie-dye clothing, including her socks. She had graying hair, and I just thought she looked fantastic. I made a point to compliment her, and she thanked me. She offered an event flyer, which has fun colors. I think I slid the flyer in one of my thrifted books, when I got home.

Like, I'm sure this is routine for many other people, to encounter such things in passing. But living as a hermit, already in a rural area, means these are novel encounters for me. There's such cheer and joy, printed on a piece of paper that I can hold in my hand. How neat is that!

Lastly, my Dunkin drink order. I got something different. Because it's a seasonal/limited thing, I figured this would help me remember more easily. It's like cherry and cream, very sweet and smooth. Maybe a bit of almond flavoring, reminding me of marzipan, in the background.
