Albums of the Week! The Misfits Box Set was the runaway winner. I listened to a year’s worth of Misfits, I swear. Haunt’s newly remixed/remastered version of Burst Into Flame is wonderful and spent a lot of time on repeat. I prepared my body for new Necropanther (due in Feb/Mar). Raate is Finnish medieval black metal that rules and I never see anyone else mention them (please try it). Finally, Vredehammer’s Violator is perfect. ☠️ 1. The Misfits - Box Set 2. ALBUMS OF THE WEEK! Here are the albums that got me through the last seven days. Basically a lot of solid black metal, a dash of doom, and some Beatles (my daughters deemed that suitable for when I drive them around). I want to specifically point out the new EP from @night_of_the_vampire because it surprised me by how addictive it is. This is synth-driven black metal, and I wasn’t sure I’d like it at first because of my historic allergy to keyboards. Turns out this is excellent, and I’m excited to hear what this Houston-based band will put out in an album format. 1. Stormkeep - Tales of Othertime 2. Minenwerfer - Nihilistischen 3. ALBUMS OF THE WEEK. Here are the nine albums that got the most plays from me this week. The clear winner was Skeletal Remains’ awesome new death metal album, “The Entombment of Chaos.” All of my expectations for this one were greatly exceeded. Over The Voids’ new album, “Hadal,” stayed on another week. There are three Vader albums here because Vader is awesome. ALBUMS OF THE WEEK. Here are the nine albums that got the most plays from me this week. A bunch of new releases came out all at once, making this a tight race. The edge went to Panzerfaust’s new record. Other new releases included drops from Over The Voids, Necrot, and Dumal. Raate - Sielu, Linna. This is medieval atmospheric black metal from Finland. What a fantastic record this is. Solid Burzum-style raw and atmospheric style here. I don’t think Raate is an active band anymore, which is a shame because their output was great.
