LOVE seeing visible improvements!! My first yarn (bottom) and the one i finished last night (top) waaaay more consistent, springier, but also more coarse, but i also didnt thwack it as much. Might go back before dyeing it and fluff it up, but for now im super pleased!!
I got a present from a friend and LOOK
Delicious raw wool!!! I want to clean them with suint fermentation, spin them, dye the yarn with plants, weave it to fabric and then maybe sew something from it.
That would be the ultimate cool goal, but I'm.nit Shure I'll have enough for that... I'll see after spinning I guess 😅
A little test wash to see how it'll behave
If you have been curious about scouring wool, let’s take a look at four different ways to get out the grease and see what works best!
I've been intimidated by wool scouring, so to get over my fear, I tried four different ways at once!
I recently got new coworkers who it would be fun to have over for like tea or something. Unfortunately, one of them is... probably* really allergic to lanolin.
Lanolin is found in unwashed sheeps wool.
I have. So much wool in my house I measure it by the entire fleece
In short: I live in a saw trap for one specific person
(*He had a TERRIBLE allergic reaction and the only thing different that day was lanolin in a product. Now he has to carry epipens EVERYWHERE)
Got bored and messed around, found out natural henna powder when made into a thin soupy consistency is AMAZING at dying/staining wool!! I assumed it would do *something* because it dyes skin and hair so well, but I didn't expect such a vibrant color so quickly! I don't know how well it'll last or anything since I'm just getting into fiber arts/textile arts, but like look at this color😍 This is JUST raw (washed) wool dipped into the 'liquid' for all of maybe 10 minutes and rinsed, no mordant or anything of the sort. Needless to say I think the experiment is a success lmao
erm yeah im going to college and yes I’m paying to spin yarn like ye old Vikings for my class
My sweet Pookie!
