have you seen the rebor dire wolf figs yet?? there's a plains variant that's actually decently scientifically accurate!!

I know I've been negative about Rebor's dinosaur figures in the past, but holy crap I want this one.

I recently added a piece of prehistory to my collection with this gorgeous 1:11±1 scale replica of Aenocyon dirus from Rebor! Nicknamed “Havallagata,” this Dire Wolf measures just over 7 inches and comes complete with 3 interchangeable heads, allowing the creature to be displayed with its mouth closed, growling with teeth bared, or with an open jaw exposing its razor sharp teeth.

The dire wolf lived in the Americas during the Late Pleistocene epoch (125,000–9,500 years ago) and was about the same size as the largest modern gray wolves. While its skull and dentition do match those of C. lupus, its teeth were larger with greater shearing ability and its bite force was stronger than any known Canis species. While these characteristics allowed them to prey on megaherbivores such as mastodons, bison and camels, its reliance on large animals likely led to its extinction, along with climate change and competition with other species. To date, the hundreds of individuals obtained from the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles constitute the largest collection of dire wolf fossils. 🐺

After adding a model Deinosuchus to my collection earlier this year, it was time to bring the equally titanic crocodylian Sarcosuchus into the fold and Rebor most definitely delivered! Nicknamed “Lica,” this 1:35 scale replica of Sarcosuchus imperator is based on the actual extinct reptile and measures almost a foot long. And as an added bonus, the Lake Version Deluxe Pack comes with the lifeless body of a drowned juvenile Nigersaurus for the killer croc to proudly display in its jaws!

Distantly related to modern crocodiles, Sarcosuchus translates as “flesh crocodile.” With the largest adults reaching over 30 feet in length, this massive predator stalked freshwater environments of both Africa and South America during the early Cretaceous period. And while scientists believe it had a generalized diet similar to that of the Nile crocodile, they also theorize that it was probably capable of killing and eating large dinosaurs as well! 🐊

After adding a hatchling Deinosuchus to my collection last year, it was time to bring the adult into the mix and Rebor most definitely delivered! Nicknamed “Meta,” this 1:35 scale replica of Deinosuchus hatcheri is based on the actual extinct reptile and measures almost 18 inches long. And as an added bonus, the Estuary Version Deluxe Pack comes with the severed upper body of a drowned Appalachiosaurus for the killer croc to proudly display in its jaws!

Distantly related to modern alligators, Deinosuchus translates as “terrible crocodile.” With the largest adults reaching up to 35 feet in length, this massive apex predator stalked both sides of the Western Interior Seaway during the late Cretaceous period. And while scientists believe it fed on sea turtles and fish, they also theorize that it was probably capable of killing and eating large dinosaurs as well! 🐊

Rebor produces a wide range of prehistoric figures and collectibles, with their Oddities line consisting of limited edition, unusual and original items. This newest addition is the “Extinction” Statue, which I purchased in the stunning Renaissance Bronze color scheme. Originally drafted as a mockup design for April Fools’ Day, the model was based on the Philosoraptor meme – an advice animal image series featuring an illustration of a Velociraptor paired with captions depicting the dinosaur deeply immersed in metaphysical inquiries or unraveling quirky paradoxes. The demand was so great for the fictional item, though, that Rebor decided to make the statue a reality!

The piece is reminiscent of Hugo Rheinhold’s famous work “Affe mit Schädel,” which depicts a common chimpanzee sitting atop a pile of books and manuscripts while holding a skull. Rheinhold was likely inspired by Rodin’s “The Thinker” — a famous statue that was part of a larger commission entitled “The Gates of Hell,” based on “The Divine Comedy” by Italian poet Dante Alighieri. Interestingly, that same book is one of the numerous volumes upon which the Velociraptor is perched. 📚

It was about time to add another large theropod dinosaur to the shelf, and Rebor delivered with this 1/35th scale Tyrannosaurus rex replica! Measuring in at around 16 inches long, this “Kiss” Mountain version features a distinct colorway with an articulated jaw, articulated arms, and a poseable tail. 🦖

Bonus Fact: Lucky these teeth are just plastic, because the real T. rex had the strongest bite of any land animal in Earth’s history. The “Tyrant Lizard King” could deliver upwards of 7 TONS of pressure when it bit down on its prey!
