Signs you’re dealing with a toxic person. That you should avoid. Or cut off.
1. You get that sinking feeling in your stomach around them
That’s your gut. Your intuition. It knows something is off before your brain can convince you with rational explanations. Listen to that feeling. If you have that pit-in-your-stomach feeling when you’re around someone, that’s probably your intuition telling you to stay away. So. Stay. Away.
2. They’re sneaky
They’re not out-right with their feelings, emotions, or intentions. Messages feel subliminal. You have to read between the lines. You have to “figure out” what they’re doing or what they want from you. Because if they told you they want to manipulate and use you, you would obviously say no!
3. They’re constantly trying to change your mind
There are people that you’ll just never gel with. They grew up with a different mind frame. They grew up in a different time. If they’re constantly trying to convince you that their mind set or opinion about something is better than or “more right” than yours, they have no interest in trying to understand you or where you’re coming from. These are not your people.
4. You’re confused about where you stand with them
This is exactly where they want you. Confused. So you’re constantly trying to please them and reassure yourself, and them, that everything is good. This is passive-aggressive and manipulative. Cut these people off ASAP!
5. They don’t like themselves
Most of the time toxic people hate themselves. They are extremely insecure. And they try to bring you down to feel better about themselves. Spending time with people like this will suck the life out of you.
6. They’ll tell you
If you want to know who someone is, listen. Listen to what they’re saying. Listen enough and they’ll tell you things about themselves that you should know. If someone tells you, “I’m a bad man.” If they say, “I’m not naturally nice; I’m a mean person.” If they tell you, “I hate myself.” BELIEVE THEM.
