Well I’m proud of myself because 1) Not giving up on this project and 2) After 10 years finally got a design for Rajin that I love! Managed to learn Nomad Sculpt enough to do this too!

Trish’s character reference sheet!! This one was trickier to draw than predicted, but than I had to pick a complicated action pose….

Who is Trish? Trish is a Qip (a primal goblin like species who mainly thrive in humid swamp and jungles) who ran away from her tribe in search of a better life.

What is Trish? Fiery, tomboyish, outgoing, easily excitable, body dysmorphia sufferer, impulsive, cocky

Trish’s kind possesses a primitive and divisive mind set leading to strict gender roles. The males being blood thirsty proud hunters and protecters while the females become foragers and crafters. Males possess brighter colors, claws, larger more studded crests, bigger fangs, eyes, ears, and tail barbs.

Well Trish was born as a female….mostly, she possesses a lot of the features found exclusively in the male species. She found that her behavior was the same way….a caring nurturing side especially for the native wildlife, but also the desire to fight and not passively let her village suffer unnecessarily from predators, starvation, and even foreign invaders.

Unable to prove herself to the tribe’s Chieftain, Trish felt like she didn’t even belong with her own and ran away.

Eventually running into the others. Trish has to learn how to love herself for who or what she is and not give into unnecessary labels and expectations.

While Trish was created to help capture other non humanoid races (for the sake of the Sci Fi theme and heavy DnD inspiration), she was also created to give some representation to the trans community mainly the dealings with body dysmorphia. I am considering making her nonbinary and/or an asexual. Might also just allow her to choose her female side while embracing the male features as part of what makes her well Trish!! Or both!! There will be a small bit on the pronoun “it”, and how Trish becomes hurt by some stranger calling her that. She also feels the strong need to make herself more “girly”and to fit in better with the upright bipeds.

My final piece of 2023!! I wanted to not only make sure this project is still a thing, but also that page illustration for it is occurring for certain this year!! The book cover for the first part. Included binding, back cover w/ synopsis, and the inside page. Certainly some room for improvements, but I'm pleased with this. It feels official!!

Pixel’s reference sheet. She is Eldoron’s companion/familiar

A type of insect/pixie hybrid. Her third eye moves independently from the others. This along with her 4 hands and tiny stature allows her to squeeze into tight spaces to help fix all of Eldoron’s ongoing projects.

She loves to hide out tucked between Eldoron’s head feathers. Though unsure if it is true for all of her kind, Pixel herself is a mute. Over time the two perfected their own sign language using hand signals, whistles, chirps, taps, and clicks.

Thirdly, she has limited healing powers for subcutaneous wounds and is hypersensitive to others, strong magics, and emotions.

Lastly, Pixel got her name from an instance where someone compared her glowing magic dust to bright dots on a screen.

This clean up took way too long……..8 hours! Zoom in for details! Jessie/Jesse’s species are combinations of Centaurs, Ents, Golems, and Fauns…..still figuring out a good name for their race. Males are centaur like while females are more faun like. There are different subtypes that attract unique geological and biological species. Jessie is a stone subtype where rock and minerals erupt from her back, hindquarters, and shoulders on occasion or during shifts in the seasons. Her skin can also completely harden to stone when in danger. Her family left their home planet to share their bounty and knowledge of potent native ingredients and their supernatural ability to regenerate from many types of injuries. They opened up their own apothecary to heal others in need. Their only daughter yearned for more than just medicine and branched out to alchemistry to include powerful potions and enchanting spells. Finally Jessie used to be fearful of smaller critters and crawlies until Trish introduced her to a Crystalline Werebat which she named Shadow. She now has a small collection of familiars to help in the garden, lab, and personal protection plus hygiene. These include a Squishy Spikeshell, a Quilled Brushglider, a Flutterheaded Phibanole, and a Glowing Tapjump

Orion’s character sheet!

He is from an elf like race whose bodies course with primal magic which surface during adolescence. Each one is uniquely changed by said magic bestowing them with certain powers. For example one born of air might grow a pair of feathered wings and able to manipulate the wind to varying degrees.

In Orion’s case, he was born with magical resonance or the vibrational energy that exists within all non living things. He is capable of manipulating this energy to move, soften, or harden these things. His powers are akin to telekinesis, transformation, and force field generation.

His body turned into one that allows this energy to flow freely like water off a merman’s fins or a naga’s tail allowing him to shape shift into these beings. His eyes have multiple corneal layers and pupils which he can independently move/twitch in a way that allows him to detect an objects resonating energy so he can match it with his own for a more powerful cast.
