These are the reasons why reverse pyramid training is my favorite. 👇. . Lower rep ranges with heavier loads are great for strengthening fast twitch (Type II) muscle fibers and higher rep ranges with lower weight is great for strengthening slow twitch (Type I) muscle fibers. Reverse pyramid training provides a bit of a sweet spot by including some of each of these types of training. . Reverse pyramid training will also give you an opportunity to spot trends in progress. We are all different... Some people are more slow twitch dominant than others, and some are more fast twitch dominant. These dominant fiber types can also vary between different muscle groups. Over time, if you notice that you hit personal records more consistently during your high-rep and burnout sets for a particular muscle group, that is a good sign that it is slow twitch dominant. Knowing that, you may be able to see more growth by tailoring your training to target the rep ranges that you progress in easiest. . Using different weight and rep ranges in your sets will also give you multiple opportunities to hit personal records. I don't know about you, but PRs motivate the hell out of me! Some days you may hit new PRs on your heaviest set, and others you may hit them on one of the other sets. On REALLY good days, you will hit PRs on your heaviest as well as lighter sets. . So, if your set targets are 8, 10, 12, 15+, once you hit those reps for the weight you are using, bump up the weight 5-10 lbs. At first you may only get something like 6, 9,10, 14 (as an example). But each week, you should try to work toward your 8, 10, 12, 15+ goal. Before long you will. Then bump up the weight and repeat that process. This is called double progression, reverse pyramid training. It allows constant progress and will help keep you motivated.👊. . What is your favorite way to structure your sets and why? . . . . . #reversepyramidtraining #reversepyramid #reversepyramidworkout #reversepyramids #workout #strengthtraining #nattybodybuilding #fitspiration #gymvids #fitnessfreak #lift #lifting #liftheavy #gains #gainsta #strengthgains #musclegains #gymgains #hypertrophy #hypertrophytraining #ketogains #ketolifter https://www.instagram.com/p/B2wuQbbARoS/?igshid=gywk1c2r64iy
