If this was a show about childhood and love, how come the final message is so different? Eleven didn't even have a childhood. Will's was stolen from him. The team's childhood was stolen from them. Mike turned from a silly kid into a miserable man. There was no childhood and love lost. Nancy and Jonathan broke up. Robin and Vickie also broke up. Will's feelings were never reciprocated. Dustin and Suzie broke up. Eleven died without hearing an "I love you" from the boy she had been dating ever since before she knew her own name. Mike was never able to love anyone in a healthy way. Even Steve's undeniable love for Nancy ended in nothing.
