Still Space Available in Some Great AUT classes!

If you are still looking for another class in the fall, we have a couple of great options for you:

ROMN 420 (VLPA/I&S, no prerequisites): This course explores Eastern and Western artistic trends and ideologies in Romanian culture, literature and film during the last 100 years. It investigates contributions to surrealism, dadaism, theatre of the absurd, and practices of resistance against communism, as well as women's roles in forging a post-Soviet identity, and introduces students to New Romanian Cinema.  In addition, this year students will have the unique possibility to attend the 6th edition of the Romanian Film Festival in Seattle at SIFF Cinema Uptown (November 15-17) and meet with Romanian film directors and actors.  It’s taught in English.

RUSS 316 (VLPA):  This course allows students to extend their Russian language skills to the topics of STEM.  Students must have completed RUSS 301 or be a Russian heritage speaker to be eligible.

[New Song Of The Week] ROMN - Collide

ROMN consists of three German guys in their twenties from Karlsruhe, who seem to have lost their accent along the way. With the addictive Collide they prove to be a strong German alternative to the indietronica of Glass Animals. The song was co-produced and mixed by upcoming Munich artist Occupanther. Other tracks like Traveller have a more electronic approach and definitely confirm the link to Caribou that has been made in the first reviews of the record. 

We’d love to see them perform live, if only it were to check out their custom drum kit in real life. And if you’re disappointed Jamie xx only does DJ-sets at his shows this year, then going to a ROMN gig might be a good live alternative. Unfortunately there’s only one live date planned so far. Under the name Filius Nox the three-piece already gained some live experience, including a performance at Rock Am Ring. Altogether it makes us even more confident that they know how to pull off a good show. We’re even willing to bet you a Currywurst for it, if you’re into those. The four-track EP is named MMXV, which as we learnt during our Classical Cultural Education classes stands for the year 2015, and is out now on Very Us Records. Enjoy!
