I think it's really cool how different emersed and submerged growth can be.
I added narrow leaf rotala to my tanks a few weeks ago. In person, the top-most leaves are an intense magenta. This will probably be the main background stem for what I'm semi-jokingly calling the Slaaneshi tank I have planned (lots of pink plants with a lavender substrate).
Anyway, it shipped in its emersed form and confused the hell out of me for a second once I unboxed it. All large, round green leaves instead of the thin pink ones I was expecting. The submerged growth took off really fast, but you can still see some of the original leaves toward the bottom.
All without CO2 and only a little all-in-one fert in the water column. Friendship ended with Ludwigia repens.
My new Wabi-Kusa ball that I created. Definitely try this out if you haven't already. 🌱 Simply form a small ball with wet aquarium soil, take some aquarium moss and cover the whole ball with it. Then wrap a thread around it to fix the moss. You can use all kinds of aquatic plants. I have simply taken plant cuttings from another Wabi-Kusa. You can plant them with tweezers into the ball. Place the finished ball in a container or a small bowl with some water and spray it regularly, so that the upper leaves do not dry out and the plants can slowly get used to growth over water. @aquabase_ #terrarium #wabikusa #nanotank #plants #indoorgarden #mossgarden #aquascaping #plantedtank #moss #vivarium #mosslife #plants #rotala #hygrophila #terrariums #plantedaquarium #indoorplants #urbangarden #emersedplants #mossterrarium #aquaticplants #nature #aquaterrarium #botanical (hier: Stuttgart, Germany) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjZ_ZQoITlZ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Hey all guess what now that I’m back I’m also Back On My Bullshit:tm:
This lovely specimen is a specimen of rotala flower, a really fascinating type of flower with some excellent variation and types (more on that tomorrow!). Shown below is a zoomed in one cause it’s super cool how the flowers are laid out on the stem.
Fun Flower Fact: This particular flower is actually partially submerged in nature, which is rad as hell.
Wish the plants were this colorful without the fun filter.
Rotala indica and some gorgeous Indian red sword.
Emersed growth of Rotala macrandra 'variegated'. I love that veination!
