only recently saw how many people disliked the roxie storyline and like I'm in enemy territory 😭😭 I loved it. I thought it was really moving 😭😭 I get people think it was "boring" but that's part of why I liked it. it was slower paced compared to the chaos of the hospital, like a little bubble of humanity idk. it hit similar to the kids with the dying father in s1 to me (which I also loved.)

anyways this was one of my favorite scenes of the season and hit like a gut punch.

devastated by roxie hamler in a way none of the other stories have so far. something about not being surprised by death, but knowing that it is right in front of you and finally closing that last bit of distance. you thought you had time to try that restaurant, to visit that family member, to see those milestones, but all of a sudden, you're counting down weeks instead of months, days instead of weeks, and maybe... maybe hours now. you've never died before. what if you're bad at it. im sure you’ve seen a lot of death. i'm sorry i have to add to it.

Something something about Roxie making sure that if she had to die while her children were still young, she was going to make sure that it was in a place that they wouldn't have to live in. And something about Robby having to continually return to the site where he had had to make the decision to take Dr. Adamson off of the ECMO and it absolutely haunts him. He can't even stay very long in the pediatrics room without nearly having a panic attack.

Roxie tells her husband she doesn't want him to live with her ghost. He replies that he'd be happy to live with her ghost. Robby lives daily with Dr. Adamson's ghost still haunting each room of the Pitt. When Dana tells Robby that the Pitt survived without Adamson and without her, and it would survive without Robby, it absolutely wounds him.

As we see the fallout for Robby dealing with the trauma of losing his lifeline human connection, it's also good to see a family where the dying person had the chance to foresee these problems and spare their family that particular pain. Roxie's children will be able to go home and grieve in a place that hopefully only holds good memories of their mother. Robby's home really is the Pitt - and the good memories of the man who seems to really have been his father figure are obscured by the drawn-out trauma of his passing.

(I want to make clear that no blame is assigned to Dr. Adamson - he was a hero, fighting Covid until it took him down. He likely had no choice about where he was treated. It's just that Roxie's situation is an interesting parallel to Dr. Adamson's)

S2 EP11 THOUGHTS

the vibe of this episode is so different, idk how to explain it but the pacing has changed

McKay is just so easily admirable. I love that woman so so much

Joy and Javadi continuously not putting up with Ogilvie lmao. But his vibe is also different this episode. Like he's finally getting his act together

And the whole ICE situation bro. It's so hard to deal with in a hospital, I can't even imagine. You can't intervene or anything. You just have to focus on the medicine. My heart breaks for the woman and all the people who fled because of it. AND ARRESTNG JESSE BRO WTF?? WHAT WAS THAT??

Emma and Donahue little team up was actually so great. Pair them together all the time.

I feel bad for Mel but I also feel like she's in this spot where she can't understand how Becca is not completely dependent on her. I know it's hard and she's struggling with the loneliness of it all but Becca deserves serious space

The poor mom of the heatstroke kid. Like there has to be something deeper than just her feeling guilty over the situation. She seems...loopy.
