I seem to be regressing. I really struggled. Both my time & distance were worse than Friday. At least I showed up.

Up next is a massage. Working from home without my Ergo stuff has made my back and hips stiff

Friends who run - is regression normal? What makes a run feel good for you? Food, no food? Morning, Night?

NEW RUNNING SHOES

They’re not my faves, but they have the same feel, with a neutral pronation.

Which is weird cause I’m flat footed as hell, and over pronate on my right foot, but the support ones make me roll my foot and pronate more. WTF!

These were $60! That’s a decent price for a running shoe! (Especially a name brand like Nike)

If you get these, GO UP A SIZE! The toe area is particularly smaller, and there’s a piece of weather gaurd on the side that if you got your normal size, will constantly hit your toe...super annoying!

I know that sitting out a run and doing exercises for my knee pain instead is not going to ruin my marathon plan -- I’m still doing all my long runs, just modifying my midweek training to have some knee therapy and possibly swimming. But it is making me INCREDIBLY ANXIOUS to deviate at all from the plan -- usually I follow training plans incredibly exactly. Someone with running experience, please assure me that this is ok?

Runners’ Block

I trained to run a half marathon in mid-April. I’ve never run more than 2 miles before and never done a race. But running a half marathon was really important to me. I’ve struggled with depression on and off, and people say that you need mental endurance to run a half marathon. So I thought that if I could do it, it would mean that I’m better. Welp. In the first mile, I stepped in a pothole and hurt my knee really badly. I was surprised at how many potholes there were. But anyways, I walked and finished in 3:15 when my goal was 2:30 but anything under 3:00 I would’ve been happy with. Needless to say, I was really disappointed in myself. 

I had already signed up for a 5 mile run at the end of this month. I’ve been constantly trying to train, but I feel like I just can’t run anymore, mentally. Right now, I’ve only been doing strength training, and trying to run but can’t sustain so it turns out to be more of a walk. The run is in 2.5 weeks. How can I get back into the running spirit??

This is why I created this tumblr, to give me motivation. I’m not going to stop at the 5 mile run though. I want running to be my hobby, my passion, and I have so many aspirations. I just don’t want to give up when I know that I can do it!
