Long run has now switched to Monday as it fits better with out family schedule. Though the evenings are getting cooler here, midday is still not ok to go out for 20km run. We had a huge thunderstorm ⛈ this afternoon at our part of the world, massive amounts of water came down and we even had a power cut. Smart me thought I could go out for my trail run right after as I thought it would still be a bit cloudy and not too hot. Well I was wrong. It was humid and sunny and boiling. As soon as I came through the door I headed for the balcony and hosed myself down with some nice cool water. One word to describe today’s run: Schorchio!!!! Luckily I was out early enough. The legs felt good and I had more in me at the end. A super hot day today followed by a super hot and humid evening. My training schedule set by my running club’s coach in the UK called for one mile plus 5x800m, taking into account football watching and heat in London. Same things applied all those thousand of kilometers away in hot hot Athens ☀️⚽️. Despite the 29oC at 8.30pm, this was one of my best sessions in a long while. Had to throw water over my head a few times and I saw people that are never bothered by the heat turn very red. Stay safe people, stop if you feel remotely unwell and keep your sessions short and sweet.
