hey ed what about a saljosh au where they meet after the episode where dispatch gets held hostage? the 122 is on scene?
1. Sal answers just before the 133, and he's closer. He tells Shore the help will be appreciated, though, so she'll be a few minutes behind. When he sees the 118 roll up, he knows control is going to be ceded to Nash. He's gotten better about that, he even knows how to joke about it with the guy now. Except Nash figures out his stepdaughter is still inside, and Sal sends Perry and Bella in to assist him. He tells them quietly to keep an eye on Nash, keep him safe. They end up taking Claudette out, so the roof collapse still gets May and Bobby later.
2. When Sal gets inside, he goes to the main call center and shouts, "Hello, dispatchers! This is Captain Deluca of the 122, I'm sure you're all thrilled to put a face to the voice, I am more handsome than you pictured, thank you for noticing. I'm going to need as many of you to start moving toward this exit behind me, you will be evacuated by my very capable firefighters. The mobile command center is almost up and running, please go make use of it if you're not currently on a high priority call." And everyone starts leaving once Sue says through the radio that they're online. Everyone except Josh, who's still trying to handle things. "Hey, you gotta get out of here before this place gets dangerous," Sal says. Josh looks at him and says, "It's already on fire, how much more dangerous can it be?" Moments later, the roof caves in not terribly far away. "You had to ask," Sal sighs, herding him toward the door while Josh throws equipment at him for him to carry and Sal complains about being treated like a pack mule.
3. They bicker all the way downstairs. Sal is so close to throwing Josh down a staircase, but he follows him outside and toward the paramedics, because the command center can wait. "I am so over power hungry firefighters," Josh mutters. "Yeah, I'm feeling real good about dispatchers, princess," Sal snaps back, and Josh freezes and rounds on him. "You are not allowed to call me that," he says, deadly calm. "I don't care what you think of me, you do not call me that." Sal is cowed, realizing he's crossed a line. He apologizes, says it's habit. "What, you call all the vaguely swishy guys you meet 'princess'?" Josh demands. And Sal is staring at his fucking boots like a scolded child. "Just the cute ones," he says, looking up at Josh. "Which is still not appropriate on a call. Really, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it as an insult." And Josh is taken aback and a little flustered, because he's just gone from a post nightmare situation dry spell to two attractive men kind of hitting on him in wildly different ways in the same day. "Apology accepted," he says, and they keep going to the paramedics.
4. Carson is sweet, he really is. Josh visits him in the hospital and brings him a card. But there's not really a big spark there. There's potential for a simmer, though. But the next time the 122 picks up a call from him, Sal responds to an order from Josh with a sly "Yes, sir." And Josh smiles and shakes his head. "That's more like it," he mutters. "You'll be looking for a red vehicle, the caller couldn't make out the model, but I suspect you'll know it because it's the one on fire." Later, someone calls the non-emergency line and asks to be routed to him. It's Sal. He rattles off ten digits, and Josh automatically types them in on his system. "What's this for?" he asks. "Dinner, maybe, or coffee," Sal says, and Josh buries his face in his hands and hopes no one sees him blushing like a teenager.
