Inktober Day 1: Crystals~

Salt is where it’s at. I use it for SO MANY things and it’s such an easy banishing/protection tool. Making your own protection salt is really simple and you can customize it to fit your specific needs. 

What you need

Salt (table salt is fine but I have also used sea salt)

A container (a jar with a lid is perfect)

Herbs and oils of your choosing

Spoon and Bowl for mixing

Choosing herbs and oils

Choose some ingredients from this list of protection herbs. (You can choose as many or as few as you want/have on hand) 

Angelica Root

Rosemary

Mugwort 

Basil 

Dill 

Cumin 

Cloves 

St. Johns Wort 

Black Pepper 

Now choose some oils in the same way as the herbs. 

Cedar Wood 

Pine 

Juniper 

Sage

Cinnamon

What to do

After you have chosen what herbs and oils you are going to use, sit in a quiet spot and visualize a circle of protection around you. You can visualize it as a fire or light, whatever you are comfortable with. 

Gather the herbs in the bowl and run them through your fingers. You can use a mortar and pestle to crush them up fine, or just mash them with your fingers if you want a more rustic salt-look. While you are touching your herbs close your eyes and change them with your intent (which is protection). Visualize (this is KEY) the protection energy from the herbs protecting you, your space or whatever your want to protect. Next add the essential oils. This is where I wing it and just drop in as much as I feel like as long as it smells good. Now you are going to add the salt. Add about a cup or so of salt mixing and continuing to visualize your intent. 

To close up thank the spirits who assisted you today and let go of your protection circle in your mind. 

How to use the salt

Your protection salt is now charged and ready-to-go. Use it to line doors outside your living space, line windowsills, add to small amount cloth bags and leave it in closets or under your bed. You can add some to your car in a small jar for protection while driving or place somewhere in your living space for safe keeping. You can gift it to someone in need of protection. And use it in heavy spell work to create a salt circle around you while you cast.
