The coat smelt of him, of Gaius. It smelled disgusting and it made her feel disgusting. If she were not so bothered about maintaining her modesty she would have cast it off. Yet she was free of that room now, being escorted away by employees of Garlond Ironworks.
As if thinking his name somehow materialised him into being, as they rounded a corner, there he was. Cid Garlond himself, along with his wife. Seeing the Garlean engineer made Flower see red. She broke away from her escort, making a path straight for him.
“How DARE you!” she spat and before Cid could answer, she struck him across the face with her hand.
The shock of having the Viera woman’s hand striking Cid's cheek blocked out most of the pain, at least momentarily. He could only hold his face with his hand and look at Flower with guilt in his eyes. He knew what her reaction would be, and who could blame her?
Before Cid could open his mouth to respond, he saw the distinct shine of a blade being unsheathed out of the corner of his eye. Immediately Cid held out his arm to place a barrier between the shaken Viera and his Auri wife. Cid quickly shook his head at Yume, "No, my love, I will take the blame. I deserve this scolding."
Yume did not turn towards her husband but burned holes into Flower, katana half unsheathed and ready in her battle stance. "Anger I can understand, but no one strikes my husband like that. If we were back in Hingashi I could have your head for less!"
