Major Gods in the Chronicles (22)
The gods of Misogi (form of purification) / Final
~ The last of the three noble gods to be born
Finally, the Izanagi-no-Ookami (Great God of Izanagi) washed his left eye, the goddess who was born was Amaterasu-Oomikami, the solar deity.
The god who was born when he washed his left eye was the moon deity Tsukuyomi-no-mikoto.
Next, when he washed his nose, the god of the sea, Takehaya-Susano-no-mikoto, was born.
Izanagi was so pleased with the birth of these three gods that he made them the most noble of all the gods he had created. To each of the three noble children, Izanagi delegated the rule of the heavens, the night and the sea.
However, when Susano-no-mikoto would not stop crying, saying that he wanted to go to his mother's country, the Land of Nenokatasu, Izanagi banished Susano-no-mikoto. After that, Izanagi hid himself in the hermit’s palace of Taga in the Land of Awaji.
