chapter 8 is up!! go read here: seer!regulus au
Thinking about seer!Regulus that learned to accept things as they are because he grew up learning that trying to avoid your fate leads you right into it.
Sirius running away? He accepted it with quiet bitterness.
Getting the dark mark? No use to turn away.
James breaking up with him after getting said mark? It is what it is.
His parents dying without ever saying “I’m sorry”, “I love you”, or “I’m proud of you”? He’ll get over it.
Until he starts getting dreams of darkness, freezing waters, and sharp claws during the first wizarding war. He fears that that’s what will happen to the wizarding world when Voldemort wins and when Kreacher comes back soaked and terrified after being lended to the the dark lord, his fears were cemented.
He forgets everything he’s ever learned and ventures into the cave, only to be trapped in darkness, surrounded by freezing waters, and getting dragged down by sharp claws.

“Reggie?” Barty’s voice was quiet and close. Regulus opened his eyes to see him kneeling in front of him, chin resting on Regulus’ knees which he had unconsciously pulled into his chest. “Sorry, I…” Regulus mumbled, rubbing his eyes as the pain receded from his forehead. “Are you a Seer?” “W-what?” “Reg, I think… I mean I don’t read as much as you do, so maybe I’m wrong, but I think you might be a Seer.” Regulus stared at Barty’s icy-blue eyes for a moment before letting a long breath out his nose and shaking his head no. Barty looked at him skeptically, “Reg, I know what I just saw. I know what I just heard. You know you can trust me right?”

Well Again and Again and Never and Always by PraenomenSobriquet on ao3 is the coolest thing I’ve ever read
the eye of a hurricane
Across the rugged highlands, along the coast, a girl ran down the shore. Her bare feet pounding against the wet sand, sea foaming in the distance, waves roaring in her ears. Her breathing was ragged and short, hair whipping behind her, she threw a glance behind her. The empty beach greeted her. She slowed down before stopping: gaze raking across the area, short shaky breaths coming out as puffs of warm air, wand gripped firmly in her hand. A lone girl standing against the bleeding sun, the tides licking at her heels and the wind flushing her cheeks. A lamb waiting for its end. A flash of red hit her side; breath pushed from her chest as she fell onto her knees. The current greeted her, its cold embrace welcoming against the sharp sand. She reached for her wand; throwing her head up, it was met by sharp red eyes leaning down to observe her. It was a man: dressed in all black, coat dancing in the wind; dark hair and pale skin painted red in the dying light; crimson eyes hungry. She tried to throw a spell, a scream, anything—nothing came out. He smiled lazily, “Don’t fight. It will be quick.” His voice was gravelly and low, coarse yet smooth, harsh yet saccharine, quiet yet booming. He sounded like the rattling breath of her grandfather, the sobs of her mother, the shouts of her father, the cries of her sister. He sounded like Death. She stood at the precipice of her destiny: a prey caught in the jaw of the wolf, a wand pressed against her temple. A murmur and pain, searing hot pain. Pulling against her mind, dragging through her memories and soul, leaving her with nothing. And then it was silent. A red light flashed but she had already been gone. Her memories, her soul, her being: strung out in a silver string in the twilight sky. The man trapped the string, placing it into a slim bottle, before crouching next to her body. Her blue eyes, frozen wide open, and brown hair, wet from the sea. He stood, smiling, black smoke engulfing his figure as he disappeared. In the distance, an augurey sang out. Its cry echoing through the night sky, the sky roared in response. A storm was coming.

It was on one of those individual excursions when he found James hunched over a large, ancient-looking book in the library. “Doesn’t look like revision work to me,” Remus said quietly, causing James to jump out of his seat violently and clutch at his chest. “Godric's saggy balls, Moony! What the fuck?” James hissed, glaring around behind Remus like he was looking to see if he came alone. “You’d think you’d have better hearing with all that time you spend as a deer.” “It doesn’t help that you move so stealthily,” James grumbled, sinking back into his seat. “Whatcha reading?” Remus asked, gently lifting the corner of the massive book to read the cover. Seers: The Past, Present, and Future of the Most Mystical Magic didn’t seem like something James would normally be interested in. “Planning on taking Divination next year?” “I might actually, I wasn’t originally planning on it,” James said, turning the page.
