This illustration for The Nine Pea-hens and the Golden Apples from Lang's Violet Fairy Book absolutely delights me.
Just look at it! This scene is described in the text as "out flew a dragon, who snatched up the empress just as she was returning from her walk, and carried her off". But later in the story it turns out this is one of those fun Eastern European dragons (Serbian in this case) who, while definitely being a dragon, also lives in palace and rides horses. So clearly illustrator Henry Justice Ford went "well he may be a dragon, but he's also a gentleman".
And in consequence this woman looks less like she's being abducted (which she definitely is in the story, she used to keep that dragon imprisoned in her cellar) and more like she's leaving a noisy party with her grumpy introvert boyfriend.
