Discovered tumblr too late and now my fandom for my show is damn near DEAD
hi darling could i pretty please request a jamie fic where reader and jamie, coworkers who secretly yearn for each other, supposedly seem to despise each other due to a matter of miscommunication (which theyre unaware of) until one day theyre forced to confront it in an angsty, dramatic and sickeningly romantic manner. i would like to leave as much as possible up for your to decide plot-wise but i’m thinking maybe the good old “who hurt you” or dramatic rain confession could be used? anyway, hope you have a great day tnx xx
It was never him ⋆˚࿔

At work, you and Jamie are basically famous for how much you clash.
You’re always talking over each other in meetings and picking fights over things that literally do not matter. Sometimes your conversations end in this heavy, awkward silence that makes everyone else in the room want to leave. People even joke that if you two were ever stuck in a room alone, one of you would end up quitting on the spot.
Neither of you ever laughs at that joke.
The thing is, it’s not actually hate. It just looks like it to everyone else.
Jamie is just so… intimidating. He’s precise, always in control, and acts like he’s never had a doubt in his life. You act like you hate that, or at least, that’s what you tell yourself. But the truth is way messier. You notice stuff you probably shouldn’t. Small things. Like the way he rubs his eyes when he’s tired, or how he actually waits for you to finish talking before he starts disagreeing. Sometimes he stands a little too close, then realizes it and steps back immediately. And then there’s the way he looks at you.
But you never say anything. Obviously.
There are moments where you almost do, though. Like when you’re standing next to him during a presentation and you can feel the warmth of his shoulder through your sleeve. Or when he leans in to point at something on your screen and you completely forget what you were saying. But then he just clears his throat, straightens up, and the moment is gone.
So you just go back to arguing instead.
It’s stupid, but it feels safer.
There’s another coworker you actually get along with. You guys hang out during breaks and just talk about whatever. He’s easy to talk to and doesn’t make you feel like you’re constantly saying the wrong thing. At some point, you just start venting to him about Jamie.
“He’s so confusing,” you say one day. Then, “He’s so hot and cold, I can’t deal.” And finally, you just admit it: “I honestly think he just hates me.”
Your friend doesn’t tease you or make it weird. He just says, really gently, “Maybe you should just tell him how you feel.”
You just laugh it off. “Yeah, right. Like that would ever happen.”
You don’t tell him how scared you actually are. How every time Jamie sounds cold or annoyed, it feels like a total rejection. Like a reminder that you were stupid to even hope he liked you back.
Jamie definitely notices you guys getting close.
Of course he does. He sees how relaxed you are around your friend and how you actually laugh without holding back. And instead of just asking you what’s up, he starts making these annoying, passive-aggressive comments.
“Why don’t you just ask your friend?” he snaps one afternoon, not even looking up from his screen.
You’re just like, “What?”
“You two seem really close,” he says another day, his voice all sharp and his jaw tight. “I don’t want to interrupt,” he mutters once, and he actually sounds almost… jealous?
Every comment feels like he’s just shutting a door in your face.
You try to fix it, though. You bring him a coffee once, and he just gives you a distracted “thanks.” You wait for him after a meeting, and he just nods and walks past. You even ask him for help with something you already know how to do just to talk to him, but he just gives you a dry answer and turns away.
So, eventually, you just stop trying. And Jamie takes that as proof that he was right all along.
When the new project assignment comes out, everyone literally groans.
It’s a short trip, a crazy schedule, and way too much pressure. When both of your names are read out together, someone actually whistles.
“Good luck,” your friend says, giving you a look.
Neither of you says a word.
The first day away is so tense, but you’re both professional. You actually work together scarily well—like you can anticipate each other’s moves. Anyone watching would think you’ve been a team for years. But by the second day, the tension is just… heavy. It feels like something is about to snap.
You start bickering over everything. The timing, the wording, stuff that doesn’t even matter. By the time night hits, you’re just done.
That’s when it finally breaks.
Jamie throws out some frustrated comment without thinking, and you snap back. He takes it the wrong way, obviously.
“You don’t even need my help,” he says, sounding totally over it. “You already have someone else you trust.”
That’s it. That’s the breaking point.
You just stare at him. “Is that seriously what you think?”
He scoffs, and you can see the hurt on his face for a split second. “What else am I supposed to think?”
You don’t even answer. He just grabs his jacket and walks out.
You follow him outside into the rain.
It’s freezing and the air is raw, and the second the door shuts behind you, you’re already soaking wet. Your hair is sticking to your face and you’re shaking, trying so hard not to cry.
“Don’t,” you say, not even looking at him. “Just don’t.”
He keeps walking. “There’s nothing left to talk about.”
You finally just snap in frustration. “Jamie!”
He freezes. Slowly, he turns around. You’re both getting drenched, but you don’t even care anymore.
“Do you even know who you’re jealous of?” you ask, your voice shaking. “He’s gay,” you say, in a soft murmur.
Jamie just blinks. “Wait… what?”
“He’s gay,” you repeat, louder and angrier now. “And he’s been the one listening to me spiral about you. He’s been trying to help me figure out how to tell you how I feel!”
Jamie goes completely still.
“I talk to him because I didn’t know how to talk to you,” you say, the words just spilling out. “Because every time I tried, you pushed me away. Every little thing you said made me feel like you rejected me.”
Tears are stinging your eyes and you wipe them away roughly.
“I like you,” you say. “I’ve liked you for so long, and I only stayed quiet because you made me feel like I shouldn’t.”
Jamie takes a step toward you, then stops like he’s terrified of messing up again.
“Who hurt you?” he asks, his voice actually breaking. “That you really thought I’d push you away because I didn’t care?”
You let out a shaky, miserable laugh. “You did. By acting like you didn’t.”
Something in him finally just cracks.
“I thought you’d already picked him,” he admits. “I thought I was too late.”
“I was waiting,” you tell him. “For you.”
Jamie doesn’t even hesitate anymore. He crosses the distance in two seconds, grabs your face with both hands, and kisses you. It’s hard and desperate and sweet all at once, like he’s finally letting go of a breath he’s been holding for months.
When he pulls back, he rests his forehead against yours.
“I love you,” he says, and he sounds actually scared. “I’m terrible at this, but I love you.”
You just smile, even though you’re soaking wet and shivering. “Yeah. I know.”
He laughs softly and pulls you into a hug, looking so relieved. Standing there, drenched and looking ridiculous, you finally realize it was never hate. It was just two people who were way too scared of saying the wrong thing.

ALL WRITING BELONGS TO ME ©️SHORTNSPIDEY
When I’m reading a fic and it’s so bomb but it has y/n and/or first person writing.
Makes me wanna throw a fitttt, especially when it’s literally such a good ficccccc😫😫
Jace and Clary being annoying and the cutest with each other as usual💜
And an extra panel cause I imagined this little dialogue while painting the other panels, I don't know if Clary would say that but I do know is fun!
The Necessity of Livvy Blackthorn’s Death
Not only does Ty Blackthorn need to accept Livvy’s death and let her go—some fans do, too.
It baffles me how certain readers still insist Livvy should be brought back, when the series has made it abundantly clear that the central theme here is the need to accept death. Every attempt to defy it has consequences. Even Jace’s resurrection carried a devastating cost that nearly destroyed the Shadowhunters.
And let’s be clear: Jesse Blackthorn is not an argument in favor of bringing Livvy back. Jesse never fully died, and Lucie never performed necromancy. In fact, Lucie herself recognized how dangerous necromancy was—she was even prepared to kill Jesse when she discovered he was being used in a string of murders.
The series consistently frames necromancy as corrupting and wrong, and Ty’s refusal to accept Livvy’s death is portrayed as a flaw, not a virtue. His single-minded determination to bring her back—without regard for Kit’s feelings—ultimately drove a wedge between them. What Ty truly needs is to let go and recognize that he can still be brilliant, strong, and whole without Livvy. Learning to live with the death of a loved one is painful, but it’s also universal—and that’s what makes Ty’s journey so powerful and relatable.
