One of my moots just asked me how I envision the Shepard twins dynamic, and it's pretty much this:

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the N7, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Batarian slavers and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire Systems Alliance.

You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before in this galaxy, mark my fucking words.

I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the Spectre Unit and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of this planet, you little shit. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me? Think again, fucker.

You know what? I am going to contact my friend the Shadow Broker, so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it.

So I'm reading a shepard twin fic, one got caught in the blast and the other stayed alliance. And now I have this scene playing in my head, it's not part of the fic but I think it'd be funny as fuck. Fem shep goes to I introduce Grunt to the other shep and is like "And this is your nephew Urdnot Grunt" and the other shep is just like yeah that tracks, but also says " I thought you were joking about figuring out how to have Wrex babies. There was a scientist crazy enough to put you loose cannons together?" And the argument gets ridiculous and funny from there.

“So, did you have fun playing guerilla?”

Lex smiled as a pair of taloned hands wrapped around her waist as she stood at the weapon’s bench. “I did,” she said. She glanced back over her shoulder, not really able to meet Garrus’ eyes at this angle, but she laid her head back against his carapace. “I wish Aria would have let you come. It would have been fun to turn Archangel loose on Cerberus.”

He huffed out a quiet laugh, his breath hot against her neck. “You’re never going to let me live that down, are you?”

“No. Mostly because it’s hot.”

Garrus laughed and nuzzled the back of her head. “I wish I had been there,” he said. “What Cerberus did… the adjutants? It sounds like a nightmare.”

“Yeah… it was. I liked Nyreen. I wish… I wish it’d turned out different.”

Garrus hummed and she could feel the way his subvocals rumbled through his chest, offering comfort. “I would have liked to meet her,” he said. “It sounds like the Hierarchy missed out on hell of a soldier.”

Lex nodded slowly at that, but her brow knitted together a little. “You never met? It seems like she would have gotten along with Archangel pretty well.”

The turian shrugged. “A lot of people come and go from Omega everyday. It sounds like she was trying to lay low. Getting mixed up with me would not have been the way to do that, considering how everything ended.” He paused for a moment and then gently turned her around to face him. “What’s wrong?”

Lex sighed and leaned back against the weapons bench. “It’s nothing. I… no, I feel like an asshole for thinking this about a dead woman.”

“Thinking what?” Garrus asked, tipping his head in concern.

The Spectre squirmed for a moment and then let out a heavy sigh. “It’s… I guess I’ve never met a turian woman before? Or at least never really bothered to pay a lot of attention? I mean, the same way I don’t pay a lot of attention to meeting other human women. People are just people.  But Nyreen was really pretty—I assume, anyway. I thought she was gorgeous. And I know you’ve said things before about me wanting something closer to home, but… well, Nyreen and I couldn’t have been more different looks-wise and it just made me wonder if—”

“No.”

Lex gave her boyfriend a flat look. “C’mon. You’ve seen the vids of her from my hard suit’s computer,” she said. “I’m guessing that if she caught Aria’s attention then Nyreen was probably pretty damn close to the pinnacle of what turians call beautiful.”

“Probably,” Garrus agreed, but he caught his girlfriend around the waist and pulled her closer. “But I’ve told you before that I’m not a very good turian.”

“Uh-huh,” she said, skeptically. She gestured to her face. “So all of this—flat, fleshy, no plating or crest or colony markings or mandibles or subharmonics—that does it for you?”

He gave her a serious, frank look and then nodded. “Yep.”

Lex huffed out an almost indignant laugh and hit his shoulder, but he just pulled her closer. “You can’t be that bad of a turian,” she said. “How far up the line of succession are you these days?”

“Ugh, don’t remind me,” Garrus grumbled. He looked back at Lex and then bent down a little to press his forehead against hers. “Let’s get this out of the way now: if I wanted something closer to home, I would have stayed closer to home. The fact of the matter is that you do it for me, Lex. You always have. Granted, I wasn’t ready to admit that back on the SR1…”

She sighed, considering this quietly and she raised one hand to Garrus’ neck, her fingers tracing the edges of the plating there. “I seriously question your taste sometimes, Vakarian. I remember being a jerk to you on the SR1. At least, I’m not sure how it could have been translated any other way.”

“Humans aren’t the only species who show affection by giving each other a hard time,” Garrus replied with a shrug. “And at first, I did wonder if maybe you didn’t like turians, but then I realized you also talked that way to Kaiden and Joker. Granted, you were never quite as hard to read with them. I remember you offering—how did you phrase it? To give Joker a pelvis fracture worth remembering?”

Lex grinned a little at the memory. “Shocking Joker into silence was always a fun pastime. Too bad he’s got EDI as backup now. But… don’t tell me that got you going?”

Garrus coughed guiltily, glancing away. “It was certainly… vivid. And I told you how turians prepare for stressful missions.” He shrugged. “But I had so little experience with humans at the time, I couldn’t be sure if it was all talk or not or if it even applied to me---I didn’t want to cross any boundaries. I eventually gave as good as I got, I just decided to be more subtle about it.”

Lex absorbed that with a frown for a moment and then her eyes went wide. “You! You were the one who offloaded that awful virus on my omnitool! The one that sang that stupid jingle for Sirta! You jerk! I still get it stuck in my head sometimes!”

Garrus laughed again, ignoring the half-hearted way she thumped her fist against his chestpiece. “I also remember being the one who helped fix it,” he said. “Remember?”

She paused at that, her expression softening a little. “Yeah, I do. We ended up talking for hours and not finishing the repairs on the Mako. Then Wrex threatened to throw us out the airlock because we were keeping him awake.”

“I recall his language being a little more colorful than that…” Garrrus traced her waist gently with his talons. “We wasted a lot of time.”

“I guess we did,” Lex murmured, rubbing her thumb along his lower mouth plate. “All the more reason to make up for it now.”

He nodded. “True, though I don’t need much of a reason to make every moment count these days.”

“True... So, do you want to go make some time count in the main battery, or….?”

“Spirits, yes.”
