Birthday weekend was pretty EPIC! After last year I honestly didn’t know how I would feel about knocking on the door of 39.. I didn’t know if I’d want to celebrate or not? I was going to try & have a big night out with all my loves & then I got scared that no one would come (because that’s what has happened over the years, especially on all of the big ones & I would end up feeling sad on my birthday - my 31st was a redo of my 30th because it was such a 💔). The only thing I’m sad about this year is that I couldn’t include more of my beauties in the weekend because #shiftwork & my fear let #life get in the way 🤦🏻‍♀️. I’m so blessed to be surrounded by incredible humans who love me & made me feel beautiful, valued, worthy, loved & cherished in ways I never expected. I love that doing life is just easy with these guys, I know I say it a lot but my trip to China was the 1st glimpse I had seen of myself in YEARS, it opened my eyes to who I had become & who I had forgotten I was & I met a literal world full of people who loved me for me away from the responsibilities that had defined me for so long. And they still take time out to encourage me from all over the world. I love having wise, Godly counsel over my life & that we share an intimate bond of truth, trust & loyalty, we like the same things & love & respect each other’s differences & opinions, even when they are worlds apart. I feel prepared to go into a week of having to be less of me, to put on my brave face & just get it done. I probably say thank you so much it sounds insincere, but I REALLY feel it...Thank you to all my beautiful friends that celebrated ME with me this week, who sent me love and messages & called. Today, hopefully, is the first of many writings to come.

Introducing me: a twenty year old female, nursing student, food lover, and high achiever. I like the colour yellow (cadmium yellow deep, to be exact), and despise movie jump-scares, walking on slippery ice, and celery. And, I’m growing.

By growing I mean learning, maturing, dispelling my biases and realizing my strengths. Becoming the best nurse, woman, girlfriend, and general human being I can be. These things are important to me.

Over and over again, I’ve found comfort in writing my thoughts out -- reflecting on the workings of my mind. Overly dramatic, yes -- but helpful nonetheless! I’ve decided to document my thoughts here, in an aesthetically pleasing blog where I can read them for the months to come. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get this idea from the movie Julie & Julia (which is one of my favourite films, I’m admittedly a sucker for Meryl Streep). I like to think I’m original and witty, but in reality this is probably very cringy. Oh well.

Tomorrow I begin my final clinical placement of my nursing education. I will work on a surgical unit for 3 months, and by the end, I will be a grown up nurse. It’s almost scarier than the movie jumpscares.
