Hosted a dinner last week. Some shots of my adventures in the kitchen preparing some of the food for the night. 14+ hour cooked Wagyu Ragu for my Lasagna - Wagyu Mince courtesy of @meatland_greenvale who came through at short notice :) Home made béchamel sauce x2 - I think I got RSI from all the whisking 🤣 Fried eggplants, zucchini and potatoes for the Moussaka. There was also a roast Girello in there somewhere too but that got polished off along with my homemade tatziki😆 A lot of effort but was well worth it. Visited @barmargauxmelbourne on Tuesday night with a friend to check out one of Melbourne’s newest additions to the late night bar/dining scene. Throughly enjoyed the drinks, the food and the venue! Introducing the 2nd of my new acquisitions and the latest Project release from @starwardwhisky, The Seafarer. Starward bolted a 225-litre French Oak barrel filled with Starward goodness to Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth cruise ship as it sailed the world for a whole year! The barrel experienced all the trappings of a grand voyage and endured temperatures ranging from 0 to 32 degrees Celsius. An experiment in how the maturation process influences a whisky, a sister cask was kept here in Melbourne as a control, aged in the distillery for the same amount of time. This is a one of a kind whisky that I have been lucky enough to get my hands on. Comes with a bottle of the Seafarer cask and a bottle from the Sister control cask. I really want to try this but part of me wants to hold onto it for a while and wait! Picked up this little beauty of a Red a couple of months ago from @collinsquarter great wine list. Hailing from Cheverny, in the Loire Valley, Domaine Philippe Tessier have produced a wonderful blend of Pinot Noir & Gamay varietals into their 2017 Cheverny Rouge. I found the bouquet to be heavy and earthy at first but the actual palate to be quite light and somewhat fruity. Left to breathe for an hour I found it drastically improved. A nice easy drink that goes well with most pairings. Drink at room temperature. should also mention this is classed as an organic wine.
