Backstory + alter ego under the cut!!

Dorian is the Crown Prince of Lavela, one of the neighboring kingdoms.  As the Crown Prince, he’s never wanted for anything in his life.  Well, almost anything.  His parents, the King and Queen, spent years trying to have children.  They wanted a child of their own and were desperate to produce an heir in order to prevent one of the King’s nephews from taking over the kingdom.  They summoned a sorceress to the castle and begged her to give them an heir.  She told them that such a bargain was possible, but since it involved the creation of life, it would require the assistance of higher powers. The King and Queen didn’t hesitate.  Though the soceress warned them that they were meddling with things they didn’t understand, they ignored her warnings.  The sorceress worked her maigc, and some time later Prince Dorian was born, to the great delight of his parents. At first everything was normal.  Dorian was a happy, healthy child.  He was spoiled by his parents and lacked nothing.  But there was one slight issue.  The Prince was cursed.  He is able to perform magic, but at great physical cost to himself.  The greater the magic, the higher the cost.  Every time he performs a spell, he is literally killing himself, piece by piece, spell by spell.  That is the long-term price, but the short-term price is physical pain. When he was a child, his parents summoned the sorceress again to ask her about his curse.  She told them that it was irreversible, but that there were a few loopholes.  (Every good curse has a loophole, right?)  If Dorian were to find true love, the cost of his magic would be lessened, but his love may also be impacted somehow.  (How, she did not know.)  But until he finds his true love, the cost of his magic continues to increase.  For every person Dorian cares about, the cost of his magic is greater.   To try and save himself, Dorian has taken to using his magic sparingly.  He uses it regularly to cast a spell to guard his heart against affection, but a spell can only do so much when it comes to matters of the heart.   In addition to his spell, Dorian also tries to distance himself from everyone, in efforts to prevent himself from growing attached.  But if he were to get attached, would he find the love worth the price?  And if he were to find true love... would they be willing to accept the cost?

Liam Bowden

Liam is smart.  He’s been a straight-A student for his entire life, and landed a huge academic scholarship to a college in Britechester.  His academic performace has wavered, since college is a little harder than high school, but he’s still near the top of the class.  He hopes to graduate early and get to work as soon as he can. Liam is smart.  Smart enough to know that falling in love is a bad idea.  His parents went through a messy divorce when he was a teen and Liam vowed to never fall in love.  Because, after all, true love doesn’t exist.  He threw all his efforts into school and has powered on, full steam ahead, towards his goals.  But it gets a little lonely focusing all your energy on school.  So, he tried sports.  Turns out Liam Bowden is very good at soccer.  And track.  Anything with running.  It’s ironic isn’t it?  He’s literally running away from his problems.  But hey, whatever works man. But maybe, just maybe, someone could convince Liam that not all love has to end in tragedy.

(Himari, laughing) Why would Cath need to know the splits? 

(Henry) I don’t know, I feel like it’d be required for cheerleading. 

(Catherine) I can do a cartwheel, I feel like that’ll be enough for tryouts.

(Luke) What's the deal with Henry's little sister? Blythe I know you know something.

(Blythe) She's a complete brat.

(Luke) Yeah, I could see it.

(Vanelope) She's like so condescending.

(Hermes) She's in our calculus class.

(Liam) Calc? Isn't she a first year.

(Blythe) Exactly, and she played all dumb and cute when we asked her like “Oops! I guess they just put me here!”

(Vanelope) It’s like she thinks she's like better than us.

(Luke) Hm, maybe little sister needs some humbling.

(Blythe) I think I have an idea. Anyone up for a bet? 

(Liam) What’s the name of the game?

After Kendall’s funeral, the family gathered at Bria and Emmitt’s home. While Bria is sad that her mother is gone, she is happy that her mom made family a priority for her and her children. They will get through this tragic loss together.

After the wedding, Ava and Emanuel went straight back to work. Emanuel took over most duties at the bar while Ava struggled with the pregnancy, physically and emotionally. Nico tried to help, balancing school and the bar, but he got exhausted from school.

Then their cat Paco, who belonged to Ava’s late mother, Mariana, passed away. The loss hit everyone hard, especially Ava, who felt like she lost her last connection to her mom. Her pregnancy mood swings only made things harder.

She and Emanuel weren’t always on the same page about the baby, which led to some tension between them, but Emanuel stayed supportive and did his best to hold everything together.

After Paco’s death, Nico reached out to his childhood best friend, Ryan, for comfort. She rejected him immediately. Ava went to visit her sister Louise in Tartosa, and their time together helped lift her spirits.

By the third trimester, Ava finally embraced the idea of having another baby boy. Health-wise, she and the baby are doing well, according to the doctor. The bar, however, is struggling between §19,000 in lot taxes and §2,000 in utilities. They’re drowning in debt. Ava is terrified of losing the business, but with the baby on the way, she knows they can’t keep pulling all-nighters like this. Emanuel continues to support her in every possible way, but they might have to make a tough decision soon.

By the time Liam was born, their financial situation hadn't improved, but it wasn't all bad. By looking at him, Ava was sure they were going to be okay, soon.
