Six of Crows- Chapter 44
I can't even blame the character- this is all the writer herself, who often mistakes idiocy for heroism.
As if a reckless, hardly thought through action doomed to failure was something admirable, not just LOUD cowardice masked as its opposite to keep the person from facing unpleasant consequences of unfavourable situation.
Did he want to be a Fabricator?
As if it were a choice.
As if he didn't have to avoid capture and human amplifiers even now, only his potential enemies don't know who might they get beforehand. And he cannot use his powers productively.
As if "being a Fabricator" meant he'd have to practice openly in front of other people...
Is Jesper unaware of wasting sickness, or is he simply so deep in denial he thinks he just "doesn't get it"?!
Possibly.
Or NOT follow simple instructions as he already proved to be unable to do...
Reasons to worry?
I don't remember this part, but why doesn't Jesper want Kaz to talk to Pekka about him?
The Ferolind felt like a ghost ship. Matthias was sequestered with Nina, and he’d asked for Wylan’s help in caring for her. ... Kuwei seemed friendly enough, but his Kerch was rough, and he didn’t seem to like to talk much. ... Only Inej wanted to chat with anyone, and that was because she seemed to have developed a consuming interest in all things nautical. She spent most of her time with Specht and Rotty, learning knots and how to rig sails.

Yesss!
A girl wants something, she goes and DOES work for it!
Scraps of Suli culture
They're scattered all over the book, so if I missed something from Six of Crows specifically, feel free to add more.
“Inej!” Jesper crowed. “You’re not dead!” She smiled faintly. “No more than anyone.” “If you’re spouting depressing Suli wisdom, then you must be feeling better.”
SoC Ch. 17
Suli were travelers. For them, “home” really just meant family.
SoC Ch. 21
... Inej had once offered to teach him how to fall. “The trick is not getting knocked down,” he’d told her with a laugh. “No, Kaz,” she’d said, “the trick is in getting back up.” More Suli platitudes ...

“Who chooses our paths?”
SoC Ch. 42
There was no wind, and the sea looked flat and glassy as a millpond. “A stubborn sky,” murmured Inej, squinting out toward Vellgeluk.

Six of Crows- Chapter 44 & 45 (Leigh Bardugo)
I can overlook Kaz believing van Eck's lies about the Council's involvement- that's an explained character flaw-, but how can he- as THE criminal prodigy- be surprised ANYONE would keep some parem for themselves, is beyond me. That's just common sense.
After introducing an almost omniscient character, he's nerfed at the end of the book to rise the stakes and keep the plot going...
It's the Darkling getting shot in an arm so he can't use merzost all over again. Or Corporalki requiring sight to attack, yet still unable to influence animals...
Van Eck's take on "Better safe than sorry"?
Six of Crows- Chapter 44
Tidemakers' work I'd bet.
Are we sure this isn't an unintentional fuck up?
I doubt van Eck doesn't know about Tailors, so checking the likeness is hardly satisfactory, and his last sentence might be a hint. It works both ways.
Six of Crows- Chapter 44 (Leigh Bardugo)
... [Matthias]'d asked for Wylan't help ... Sure he did!
Simple cover story's always the best. Kaz needs to keep Wylan's state secret and helping Nina, when chemist is the closest person they have to a doctor, is a wonderful excuse.
