What are you thoughts on the newest Arc in solarballs? Or the new characters that have been introduced. 👀

As much as I am currently enjoying the new arc, I do wish they slowed down a bit qwq

Like that scene where Wise showed Planet X the rocky planets, it was barely a minute and we never saw them again? Like oh my god?? The rocky planets WE thought had DIED turn out to be ALIVE and they're never mentioned again? Like dude take a moment I think this is super important qwq

Or in the last episode, Planet X was gushing about Sun one moment and then suddenly agreed to go to war against him in the next? And why? He doesn't LIKE anyone in the solar system except Proteus and MAYBE Uranus. He feels GUILTY, yes, but he doesn't like them. Who he does like is the Sun. So why the sudden change of mind?

And speaking of the Sun its annoying me how no one is nice to him at the moment qwq Like yes maybe he is acting a bit insane but they all do realize that this could have been avoided if they'd just, oh I don't know, TOLD HIM WHAT THEY WERE DOING?? He said it himself! "It wasn't me who abandoned the planets" with tears in his eyes, or "If I need to be the bad guy to keep you safe, trust me, I will be the bad guy." WHY IS THAT JUST BRUSHED OVER LIKE OH MY GOD GUYS BE NICE TO YOUR STAR

Another thing where they could have slowed down is the effects these new orbits have on the celestials- because its a LOT. I am happy about Neptune finally gaining the spotlights but like- they immediately forgot him qwq AND ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER

Like the ice moons, such as Titania, Oberon, Umbriel and Ariel, or Titan, Enceladus and Mimas, or Europa and EVEN IO WITH ALL THE ADDED GRAVITY, they certainly are feeling the changes of this orbit.

WHAT ABOUT MARS, who's ice by this point has turned into water!

THEY NEVER EVEN ADRESSED THE ISSUES THAT HAPPENED BEFORE, such as Uranus running away or Earth getting hurt because of the rockies, like guys come on qwq

Like the arc is cool don't get me wrong but we're going super fast😭

As for the new characters, I think my favorite so far is Wise. I like how he's a gentle giant like Jupiter, but with a bit more of the disconnection where he doesn't appear as warm ^^

Also loving how Simp is stubbornly holding onto her plan, despite probably already knowing it won't work- like girl. You need light. Ya'll are just jealous you aren't stars lmao

On that note not a fan of the constant Planet X abuse, why do they keep yelling or grabbing him help

Thoughts

the rogue planet kingdom should be a queendom. yk. Matriarchy and all that.

And I know i'm just a sucker for worldbuilding but i really wish the show got more into the politics of how the kingdom would be run: we know that their purpose is to gather other rogues and eventually defeat all stars, sure, but what do they do?

Most of the background rogues are shown flying around or standing and staring at nothing in a long ass formation and what kind of existence is that?? The little ex-rockies (also why do they sound like kids... they're meant to be older than our current rockies.... ) are shown to be playing around which i think was really cute. It would have been nice to have a filler episode here just where WISE takes X around the kingdom showing him how everything was run and stuff.

With millions of planets to keep in check and as the kingdom is constantly expanding as well there has to be some form of established society or hierarchy. Because SIMP can't control millions entirely by herself, even in a cult there's other people down the line reinforcing respect for the cult idea or leader. I think there should have been some social standing- SIMP can remain queen but there'd have to be more than just WISE and PSO as her second-in-commands (is that right?? what is their relationship to her??) to help control the other rogues. I understand there'd have to be more individual characters introduced but they don't need lines or names or anything. Just a design and some establishment as an authority figure in some part of the society. We'd need characters acting as teachers, mentors, supervisors, messengers, accountants ect. Just some characters with a higher social standing that looks after (supervises) the others and report back to SIMP.

And the rogues need something to DO to occupy themselves. Taking the idea that most of them wander in loneliness before being recruited, it'd be cool if there different sectors for the rogue where they have their own communities where they make friends and share interests. (kinda like a book club. Imagine X coming across a painting club and thinking how much Uranus would love that.) And there's be other sectors too, military ones teaching the rogues how to fight or aim (referencing the planet rev w ganymede scene) or others teaching about other solar systems, how to navigate, how to do that space-travel thing and another where they reinforce their propaganda regularly (like oOhoh StArs BAD. EVIL. ifygwim)

And how do the rogues feel about the planet inequality? Because there's clearly an establishment of how greater mass = more power eventhough it contradicts their idea of stars are evil because they have more mass (and the fact they nuclear fuse but shhh)? ESPECIALLY how SIMP and WISE use their mass to threaten them. There's more earth sized rogues than Jupiter sized. At least a few must have a say on this. Do they not notice the obvious inequality? What's stopping them from rebelling? (and yes yes cult stuff and beliefs i get it but this kingdom is not regulated so it's much easier for disbelief and doubt to crack through.)

And here's another question: do moons just automatically become planets since there's no established orbits? How would our moons feel about that, especially after the revolution and moons becoming planets arc? would rogue ex-moons judge them for willingly wanting to stay as moons when instead they could have had equal standing as planets?

On the topic of established orbits, HOW THE HELL ARE THERE NOT WIDESPREAD COLLISIONS WITH HOW CLOSE ALL THE ROGUES ARE PACKED TOGTHER??? DOES GRAVITY NOT EXIST??? And why are they all arranged on a singular plane?? And treated like bricks in a floor plan?? 😭 Actually y'know what it would have made much more sense if SIMP established the kingdom as a society instead. "the rogue planet society" It can still be a cult without gathering all the planets into a single space. So the planets know that they're in this secret plot and inform and help other rogues, encouraging them to join as well. And maybe once in a while they have secret meetings just to re-establish morals and propaganda and what not. There's still authority but the Rogues would feel like they have more of a democracy and freedom to choose i guess? And it makes more sense physics - wise with preventing all the unnecessary collisions. Although, it would be much harder to control all of them and who's to say they can't drop out at will so that's probably why the show chose kingdom instead of society.

Solarballs ramble: worldbuilding inconsistencies

Summary: they keep breaking or forcing their own rules for plot convenience.

It seems like they keep going "okay, so we've presented this as a problem before but actually we need this to happen so it isn't now" or "Plot twist! This is a problem now because we want to raise the stakes" and then ignoring it when the moment has passed.

Back when it was just funny educational videos, they kept breaking the laws of physics and that was okay because the worldbuilding dictated they didn't apply, or at least not all of them (they did say they couldn't get too close to each other or it's a collision and what would happen if the Sun suddenly disappered, among other stuff). The issue came when the show became more plot-driven they started switching what they were able to do or not without solid in-verse justification.

A prime example of that is the speed they can move at. The first time it's brought to attention is during the race against X, when the moons imply that, on their own, their max speed is their orbital speed. Now, however, they are moving faster than light speed. The explanation seems to be "they didn't know and didn't need to, so they didn't try", which seems cheap. Are you really telling me that X broke that in-verse rule (and the laws of physics) because he wanted to leave the SS faster, but he didn't try to when Metis passed him during the race? It would have been a way better explanation saying that it has to do with the Sun's gravity weighing them down or something, but it's never stated or even explored.

Then, there's also Earth's restrictions. What do you mean he had the whole thing with heading to the Sun, but then in the SS trials he seems fine? Sure, it could be a "can stand it for a while but not permanently" kind of thing (which I'm not sure he'd risk without complaining, anyway) or even that he is in his orbit but it looks weird, but then you also have the axis thing. It has been established from the start that he needs someone helping with his axis, but then he just suddenly learns to do it on his own??? Without any effort shown? After billions of years of that "struggle" persisting?

To me, those changes of logic come so out-of-the blue that they break the immersion and make the watcher feel lied to because they present something as a big issue and then move on like it was nothing. Also, it makes it hard to write for this fandom if you want to follow canon.

ok gang time to rant about solarballs again

this is mostly about simp annoying me so if you don't want to hear me rag on her then feel free to not read this post.

I don't like SIMP... she's increddibly annoying and unnaware in a way that feels like either a fault of the solarballs writing team or, in a best case scenario, a very obvious flaw that could be her down fall but I serriously doubt the second one.

In the newist episode in the current solarballs arc SIMP talks about how rouge planets occour (most commonly by forming in multi-star systems and then being thrown out by the gravitational interactions between the stars in the system) and talks about how stars are (paraphrasing) terrible beings for doing so while guilt tripping X into staying. Although, she seems to forget in this moment that she's a brown dwarf STAR and has SEVERAL OTHER brown dwarfs in her system which all have way stronger gravitational pulls than the rest of the rocky planets (who for some reason seem to be the only type of rouge planets in the kingdom appart from X who's an ice giant).

Another flaw in SIMP's goals to protect / save rouge planets is how they're all kept in such close proximity to eachother to form the walls of her thrown room. This plus the tight space they have to move around between each rouge planet wall means that there is an increased risk of planetary collision not to mention the risk of accidently being flung out AGAIN from gravitational interactions between all the brown dwarfs and rouge planets in the system which goes against SIMP's ideas of keeping them safe.

Now, you could argue that WISE and the other shown brown dwarf that I don't remember the name of might not actually be brown dwarfs due to the brevity of when they're observed and the distance they're viewed from but in cannon they ARE reffered to as brown dwarfs which makes them stars.

Again, this could also just be a fault of solarballs forgetfull writing system (as seen by them forgetting that the planets are actually ment have their irl rotation speeds and tilt of axis in the previous arc and allowing the planets to basically move around freely as long as they stayed in their actual orbits.) which solarballs has had a problem with lately.

Hot take but I really dislike how life gets brought up into EVERYTHING in solarballs.

Titan realized he could be like a planet because he had it, the entire revolution happened because Titan had life. And he is bigger than Mercury + he is actually massive enough to clean Saturn's orbit . (Obviously it's not the case cus Saturn actually exists but it's the fact it's possible).

I can kinda understand that it came because earth was the one to insult him and Titan needed revenge. But why is life what was used of moons being like planets of all things? There's a lot of things to go off. And even if there wasn't, they still deserved respect.

Then planet X, earth wasn't really going stuff there so ig its fine. But in regards of the past. I really don't get how little living creatures would make universe less lonely in Suns opinion if he can't even see them for the most part of their existence. The maximum he could see was greenery on earth, and even then, it wasn't anything detailed. I honestly think it would make much more sence for Sun to want as many planets as possible so he wouldn't be lonely. Then the entire motivation of Proto and Theia was to make life. Literally everything they wanted to do in their short lifespan was to make life possible

And now ROGUE planets want life too??

I can understand that they treat life as some rare miracle, because, yes, it is. But the fact everyone cares so much just feels off... these are celestial bodies. On a planetary scale we don't matter so why does EVERYONE treat life as the most important thing in the galaxy. I am not saying they shouldn't care about earthlings at all, but this goes too far

is it just me or do I see WISE as a parental figure to X more than a partner??? I’m dislike the WISEX ship bc I lowkey see WISE to be like X & OGLEs dad… X and OGLE are like bros and that scene where X tricks OGLE into betraying the Rogue Kingdom and WISE is just behind X with a look like: “Have you been teasing your little brother again?”

i watch solarballs for their dynamic and also I need to make the Solarballs Out Of Context #3 compilation … I lowkey hope this arc ends soon bc the writing is still insufferable I just hope at the end WISE, X and OGLE traverse the galaxy like a family.

when you think about it the solar system and other systems like it are technically tribes or their own tiny (maybe not that tiny but yk what I mean) community's right?

in the show it is seen the solar system has its own cultural and sort of politics(?) when viewed in a certain way

it has its own caste system we have not seen in others in the show (tbf we have not seen other systems like it), you could make an ok guess that the hierarchy the solar system has may not exist in others

its general culture made with the hierarchy being a big part it is also interesting to see

like for example, in the solar system it seems to be hyper aware of how the sun can literally end their existence if they do even the slightest thing wrong this is seen in one of the early episodes when Saturn gets out of his orbit to visit Uranus and have their little adventure when Uranus sees Saturn out of his orbit, he freaks out a bit and when Saturn gets loud about wanting to spend time with his icy friend, Uranus tells him to keep quiet or else the sun will hear him

there is also seen in another episode when the sun gets mad at some of the rocky planets (specifically mars and mercury) for being a bit rude to who is basically their father/protector/god, his extreme anger to them is very clearly threatening

as he can literally just bast them to bits if he wanted to

the sun has made a situation for himself and his planets where the planets are always keeping secrets from him and each other, there is a culture in the solar system were pretending and lying is constantly encouraged or the only thing a celestial body can do if they don't want to face the suns wrath

it reminds me of the phrase "strict parents only make sneaky kids" as in the solar system lying to the sun is one of the only ways you can save yourself from being murdered, the sun is clearly insane for this btw

so when you compare the solar system and the rouge empire going on with SIMP as the leader, the size of the solar system is fucking nothing in numbers when compared to the empire that much is clear

but the empire does not seem to have that kind of lying issue (at least of what we know off so far), in fact since everyone in the rouge planet empire has (somewhat) of the same thing in mind, saving planets from their stars, this encourages information to go around and serve as a place for planets to talk about their trauma due to the neglect, death, or active aggression from their unstable stars

since simp is much calmer and more thoughtful about her actions, she does not have violet outbursts where she cartoonishly goes and threatens planets smaller than her

there are punishments if you really piss her off yes, like seen in the episode where x laughs at SIMP's name, cus like...yk and she threatens to crush him with her gravity

besides that, rouge planets do consider banishment to be a decent punishment, but that only seems to be used if a planet wants to leave with the policy of the rouge planets being "you can't come back if you leave"

the solar system and the rouge planet empire are still pretty bad, the empire just seems to be a bit better as they (on the surface) have the goal to free every planet from their stars

best way I can put it rn is,

solar system = abusive and controlling but still somewhat loving family sharing one big house

rouge planet empire = an organization that protects and frees people that can't do that themselves (also turns out they are a cult but the show can go a lot of ways with those implied things)

um yeah hi I disappeared off the face of the Internet anyhow the new episode was something to say the least I wish Venus and Mercury luck and that this won't cause orbital issues (honestly might have to Google it later)

Also Sun i swear on the gods if you just gave Earth his answers on the Proto-Theia collision and why he wanted life he wouldn't be freezing to death (possibly in coma but idk medical stuff) in kuiper belt

I swear once everyone gets back with Saturn probably dragging Earth along with his gravity if someone (I'm looking at you Sun) says something bad about Earth I swear you will be seeing me rage in a post I can guarantee you that
