I'm gonna be a poppa!

Hi folks! I don't often talk about my life online (ironic considering how open I am about everything!), but I wanted to share with y'all:

We have a little bean - which we made all by ourselves - with a due date in December!

Long ago, I'd kinda given up on ever becoming a dad, but then I got lucky enough to find my person, and she wanted a child, and it just so happens that despite a lot of complications we're able to get pregnant.

And now we're gonna have a child!

The whole universe feels bigger now, just bursting with fresh potential. The future - something I've always been excited about and look forward to - feels more... I dunno, brighter, realer, something that holds an even more important place in my heart, mind, and spirit than ever.

I'm investing in the future in a way I've never been so deeply invested before, because a little spark we made will grow into a person and mind who'll continue to explore those unseen lands and contribute to the human experience well beyond our lifetimes.

And that's wondrous.

There's our little bean! Barely identifiable as human, but REAL!

Apparently their little eyes are beginning to form, and heart, and their brain and spinal cord are piling on 250,000 new cells every minute. And their wee tail is getting longer.

What magic is biology!

A software solution from Canadian company Tomovision enables expectant parents to get a uniquely hands-on preview of their baby. Baby Slice O converts 3D ultrasound scans into STL files, which can then be sent to a 3D printer to produce a 3D printed fetus sculpture.

And in other “we live in the stupid Cyberpunk future” news, there is now a “3d print your fetus” service....

I’ve been seriously thinking and considering getting my radiology degree and going to Johns hopkins school for 6 months. Does anyone on here have any knowledge or experience with the process and the job itself ? Is it worth it ? To maybe getting into being a travel tech ?

Art and Sonograms

Never thought that you can put art and sonograms together, but after following another artist on Instagram @dinotomic with gunpowder art, sand art, water art, etc, I’m not surprised anymore. 

Laura Steerman, a 35-year-old artist and mom of three, is an artist based out Dublin, Ireland who creates abstract sonogram paintings. Her business is named, Quaint Babe Bespoke Ultrasound Art. 

Steerman tells Babble that while she works as an attorney to pay the bills, she makes art to feed her soul, and what a beautiful way to feed her soul (in my opinion). 

Steerman began painting her own daughter’s scans after experiencing several movement scares during her pregnancy. It is no wonder that many woman have turned to her to help them capture such a beautiful moment is a woman’s life. And while some mothers did not have a successful or easy pregnancy, Steerman was able to connect with them and steer her in a direction she may not have encountered on her own.
