You said in that Hinata post “instead of a god complex I normally give him he had a hero complex” and may I ask you what that means? If that comparing Ko!mukura and Kamukura together or something different entirely?
I actually googled the words I used while answering this ask, and realized I got these complexes wrong for how I interpret Hinata. Kinda?
I wasn't referring to his relationship with Komaeda in this au, more in so where his internal issues lay. When I write for canon Hinata, especially post game, I interpret him as someone that needs to feel like he's in control of most situations. Like, control issues up the ass. If something isn't going his way, or he didn't factor in something while planning, he always had a moment of panic before he calms down to consider it a bit more indepth. If he thinks something is going to disrupt the control he has over a situation, he'll go out of his way to prevent it ahead of time even if the chance of it actually happening is so slim that it slips through his fingers. This is played the most in, again talking about my post game fic and my own interpretation here, in how he'll interact with not only future foundation but his friends. In his mind, He needs to be seen as stable in control, because is he's not seen as in control he will loose it. He needs people to think that, if nothing else, at least one of them are okay. That if nothing else, they can rely on him, because he's okay. He's fine.
This is, in fact, a character flaw of his. I think it makes sense given how much of his life he was placed into positions where he lacked an amount of agency, whether it be intentionally putting himself into that position or just how people and society treated him. This is especially prevelant when mixing Kamukura's trauma into it, something I think he'd disregard as not being part of his own traumas. But Hinata's identity issues are entirely different topic matter, and I'm getting kind of off track.
When it comes to how this connects to how I'm interpreting the talent swap au, I'm sort of playing with the opposite idea of it. For reference, I don't actually normally like talent swap aus, because it feels less like you're taking this character and seeing how giving them this new aspect would change them, so much as it feels like remasking them to be another character under a different name so to say? Which is really funny, considering Kamukura and Servant are both more like aliases and the ones I'm focusing on. I'm aware of the irony.
So, regardless, when I'm doing my own, or making content for it, I still want to keep their core characters in tact and see how giving them these new talents would change THEM, not just remask then to be Komaeda's personality with Hinata's face just because Hinata is now the lucky student. He's still Hinata. I think, at his core, he still has control issues. But in this case, it's that he doesn't want to be incontrol of his own mistakes. That his luck is something he sees as forcing him to make so many, and if he's not the one in control, then it's not his guilt to carry. Then he doesn't have to fix it. He can just live a little, even if he's lying to himself at his core.
