congratulations!

there’s not much chaos. in fact he’s expecting a lot more. he’s expecting his hands to shake with nerves, he’s expecting his fingers to slip up on a few things and another set of scoldings from his partner in command. what he gets is none of the above.

no what mino gets first are the flashbacks. it feels a lot like the first time, like the first win and the joy and the anxiety all building up into backstage tears and hands clapping so hard they’re sore later. he thinks about it and he laughs. that’s what comes next, the laughter. it comes when he tries stringing the streamers across the top and almost falls. it comes when the cake nearly falls onto the ground and it takes three of them and six arms to grab it with only icing sliding onto someone’s arm. it comes when said icing ends up smeared on three people’s faces. okay they really need to get to work.

this doesn't take long. well that’s false. this doesn’t take too long. it takes about as long as he expects but they’re so excited they don’t notice. they’re so caught up in the imperfection of their own perfectionism they cannot be bothered. it wasn’t last minute as it was a hassle to keep it a secret. the girls have a habit of being either in the practice room or on the stage so arranging it took a lot of scrambling and stalling. it also took a hell of a lot of persuasion. mino thought they deserved it and apparently he wasn’t the only one sharing in the sentiment. so here they are, setting up the practice room for the party. balloons at the entrance ( some saying congratulations some just with color, all black and pink ) and the cake in the back surrounded by chicken ( double fried and spicy ), jamppong, lots of ( lots of ) beef and a banner situated above it.

“Yah yah yah they’re about to get here! Are you ready? Are we missing anything? We’ve got to turn off the lights.” So everything for the most part is set. He really shouldn’t be speaking anything above a whisper but the appearance of his maknae has mino’s nerves boiling over.

Dear Taehyun Hi, Taehyun! It’s been a while since I last heard from you. But I’m the one to blame since I think I haven’t replied to your texts/KKT messages yet (I’m really bad at keeping in touch 😞).How’s life over where you are? I hope life isn’t being an ass to you and you’re getting the break that you need. Take your time in getting back up, okay? We’re all here for you if you need us. I may be away for overseas schedule but I’m only one KKT away. My speed in replying might vary depending on my schedule, but rest assured that I will read all of it. Hello fanboy...! You know, for a minute after I wrote that, I had to pause to try and remember how you got that nickname again, originally. And then I started laughing all to myself as I remembered the Story of How You Earned That Nickname. But whatever, you have the poor taste of not having me as your favorite member, anyway, nyaha.

Anyway, we haven't really updated each other so much on happenings lately, huh? I know you love to hate talking to me because I make you think (ha!) and well -  well, sorry I'm not sorry for that. I like being an annoying, tiny busybody at your side. And admit it, you like talking to me too because even though I make you think, it makes you realise things about yourself too! Self awareness is a good thing to possess you know, hehe.

So yeah, I should come and bother you again.. soon... sooner or later. How's it going with.. you know. That person you've told me about? Hope it's all good. And I know that you um, can have some uh - jealousy issues. I know I like to mock you for the silliness of it, but it's not always so bad, really. I mean - it's not so wrong or funny, jealousy. But you remind yourself that if a person doesn't see you as a catch, then they're not catch either.

Dear future me,How’s life over there? Remember when you were young and kinda lost, not knowing which direction you’d take? I hope you’re happy with the path you chose.
