one of my favourite things about spider-man au byler is that, canonically, mike knows will just by his breathing so you can not convince me that if mike heard will speak once dressed as spiderman he wouldn’t recognize him. he ABSOLUTELY would

I absolutely love the byler fandom because not only do we have the normal versions of them, we have about fifteen other alternate universes that are absolutely amazing and we keep collecting more like it’s a Pokédex or something

Spidey!Will but it's the aftermath of NWH and Mike keeps finding detailed drawings of himself around his apartment.

He himself is not an artist and he doesn't have, nor has he ever had, any artist friends, well except Eddie but Eddie's style was different and he only drew D&D stuff, never Mike.

He becomes so fixated on these drawings. Not only are they odd but they're beautiful. For months he can do nothing but think about them. In fact he cries one night over them.

There's also that painting. El commisioned it, he thinks, his memory of it is fuzzy. But it doesn't make sense. It's the party... but there's four of them? The party was always just him, Lucas, and Dustin, at least until Max and El came along.

Then one day one of the regulars comes into the coffee shop. Will Byers. The one who came in and introduced himself using his full name a few months prior. He's super cute. Mike's been low-key crushing on him for weeks. But he peeks over Will's shoulder while he's drawing and instantly recognizes the very familiar style that he's grown to memorize and it changes everything.
