Something I always tell myself is that if you remain calm while someone screams at you and curses at you in the most immature manner you've ever seen, you will eventually get them to realize they are being needlessly cruel.

However I have just been cruely reminded by @/phantomhunt that this is not always the case. Our Remus fictive accidentally triggered them multiple days ago, and hadn't had a chance to apologize. Someone messaged them with our side system's past and they proceeded to decide we hadn't changed at all.

Which is not true at all, but regardless. Their Virgil alter then began cursing at us and demanding a "good enough excuse" for what Remus had done. We told them, multiple times, Remus hadn't been aware of their triggers at the time and was reminded and going to apologize; but hadn't yet had a chance to.

They continued to curse and talk down to us as if we were below them. Then we told them not to speak to us that way, they said "no, I will." And forced our Remus alter to front in a triggering situation while their anti-septiceye alter talked to us like we are the dirt beneath their feet.

We checked their status and they had "splitting: interact with extreme caution" with abbreviations. We realized they were having a BPD induced meltdown and we blocked them after saying if this is how they react to an innocent mistake, we shouldn't be friends.

They are acting like a toddler because we didn't want to force our alter to front and take the verbal abuse they threw our way.

Pathetic. I know they won't see this and I am glad. We needed a space to vent.

We thought we had DID because we have… all of the symptoms.

But I think we just experienced a reset?

We have always heard that DID systems can’t reset like that but our hosts haven’t fronted in two weeks, and the current fronting group feels like all new members.

Is there an equivalent for someone with DID? What the hell-

I am not sure what a system reset is per se, but major system changes are extremely common in DID as well as other system types. Especially- but not exclusively- if something changes outside of the system, what the system needs to handle things will change, resulting in changes in frequent fronters and system members, potentially including a significant amount of simultaneous fusions, splits, and/or dormancies. It definitely happens, and isn't uncommon.

Hi. We're a little fuzzy on one of our alters- we have a suspicion that our internal protector/caretaker Josh is an introject of some sort from the body's brother (but his name is Sean which makes us more doubtful), how do we tell?

I’d first consider what about them makes you suspect that they’re an introject of the body’s brother. Are there similarities in the way that they act, talk, look, etc? Do they have similar mannerisms and those sorts of things? If Josh split off, was it during a time where there was either stress (or something worse) going on between you& and the body’s brother or during a time when the body’s brother made you feel safe surrounding a stressful event (or something worse)?

ALSO COOL AND FUNKY THING THAT HAPPENED we think we split last night 🤪 idk who split off or how many, but headspace felt weird this morning when we woke up and at least one new headmate has announced themself, which is super fun. Guess having several hour long panic attacks is not healthy 🙃
